    Trading breakouts [By The Book]

bought scss at 29.82 off the weekly. stop at 25 / target 164 to 208.48 r/r of 1:23 to 1:37 I know that target seems crazy, but these are just projections. I use measured moves to forecast targets.

Price at MAJOR pivots for: CAT, MWW, CVS FSLR ---- ebay will probably be a loser. Weekly's putting in a pinbar and we still have two more days of trading. Monthly still looks bullish.

Good movement today on MHS. Will pull the trigger if we're still strong near market close.

How to narrow down and choose the best?

I trade breakouts, but I'm trying to figure out a way to narrow down the list and find the ones that have the best potential. 1000's of stocks are breaking out during the day but I simply cant follow them all and i dont know how find the ones that have the most potential over 3 months to a...

Why do 5% of Traders Win?

Well I didn't read this whole thread, but the fact is this. 95% of people will fail at most things they attempt, wether its getting good grades, learning guitar, starting a business, and especially trading. People quit too soon and don't learn from their mistakes. I'm still trying to trade...

Why can no one suggest a real prop firm on this section of the forum

Why are there not any firms that capitalize. train, and mentor swing/ position traders? Why is everyone still, so focused only on day traders?

    Trading breakouts [By The Book]

Example of a possible losing trade. With an entry around 24.72 , stop at 20.30 and target at 33.40, that puts my r/r at around 1.97.. A trade which should be avoided.

WR on the monthly. Yes, I'm using a 20sma on this chart because I don't take my trades from it. My trades come from 60 min, Daily and weekly which are indicator free. I used monthly because I couldn't get a clear analysis on smaller charts. Long term it looks good around 30. TIP!.. ZOOM...

MHS. Showing weakness on both daily and weekly near this resistance level. Both are closing as pin bars (inverted hammers). However a look at the monthly suggest bullish direction on strong volume. I'm guessing that for the rest of this week and maybe 1st week of march we might see a pullback...

Been watching CVX with anticipation at a break for 111. For some reason stockcharts and my charts on tos look different. The pattern on stockcharts is slightly uneven, while mine show price as more flat. Anyway... http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=CVX&p=D&yr=0&mn=8&dy=0&id=p49988719570

I've been "groomed" so to speak that it's important to have a risk/reward ratio. I can't get this ratio if I don't have a target in mind. It just helps with my planning process. If I have to decide on two trades, I can pick the one that has the best reward possibility. Also after I get some...
