Volume can be helpful in picking bottoms, if that's your thing.

Now no stimulus negotiations until after election

Sounds like a delightful day, waiting for a tweet from Donald Trump. "MAGA! I ONLY THREW UP ONCE TODAY. MARKET IS THE BEST!"

Republicans fail to show voter fraud...

Note: In June, a Pennsylvania federal judge ordered the republican party to show evidence of voter fraud in the state, in response to their efforts to challenge voter drop boxes. As reported today, the GOP has failed to respond with any instances of fraud. From Bloomberg News: President...

Trump University (Wikipedia) Trump University (also known as the Trump Wealth Institute and Trump Entrepreneur Initiative LLC) was an American company that ran a real estate training program from 2005 until 2010. It was owned and operated by The Trump Organization. The company offered courses...

    TA - the final answer...

Humans have a need to impose order on chaos. They love to do it visually. Thus, charts and indicators. Pretty stuff, but not required for successful trading.

IB - Special kind of Trailing Order

You should have no problem creating a trailing stop as a conditional order. Set the trailing stop parameters as usual, then (TWS Classic) right-click on TYPE, and MODIFY>CONDITION. Set the condition based on price of your underlying symbol, which you need to enter as 2% above your entry...

What is the optimal portfolio allocation (%) to naked options?

You don't yet know what you don't know. You're concocting complex scenarios on paper, without the value of experience. The only way to learn is by doing.

    Flash Crashes

Your loss is your loss. What does it have to do with the broker? And one thing I have found over the years is that if you can imagine a scenario, then you are likely, at some point, to face it. In setting stops, one is always faced with the decision of protecting against catastrophe, or...

I have shorted 50 shares of Tesla at 407.00, do i hold or Short more ?

Your first and most serious error is in looking at a heavily traded and volatile stock that has a large percentage of its shares held short. When the stock begins to rally, shorts will be quick to cover, as well they should given the history of the stock leaving shorts in the dust.

How to Let Your Winning Trades Run: Got ideas?

A trader who has problems cutting winners short, is a trader who doesn't have confidence in his plan. And a trader who doesn't have enough confidence in his plan to let it run to completion without interference, is by definition a trader who isn't ready to put money at risk.

    Moving Averages discussion

In my system language, CL.1 is yesterday's close. OP.2 is the Open 2 days ago. Thus, in the first instance, CL.1 is required to be 10% (*1.10) above OP.2, in order for a trade to be opened the next morning. My point in posting this was to provide just an example of trading rules which do not...

    Moving Averages discussion

That's a nice hat, but it doesn't hide the fact that new traders have probably wasted more valuable time chasing MAs up, down, and sideways, than any other activity. Better for them to simply ask: Where is price now in relation to where it has been, and what does that tell me? Nearly every...

    Moving Averages discussion

MAs are a crutch, and not much help in any time frame. All you need to trade successfully is (1) A measure of volatility (2) Open, Close, High, Low of your instrument compared to x number of previous bars (3) An exit. (Profit target, Loss target, Bars or time) That's what price action is, and...

    Al Brook's Trading Room

The waste of your time is a bigger factor that the waste of your $99. The problem with trading coaches is that there is no type of certification or regulation. If somebody tells me that they've spent 30 years trading and they're still pitching crap on a website, there's a problem somewhere.

Forming an entity and transferring brokerage assets

A few years ago with major brokerage, I too needed to zero positions and xfer cash. The obvious problem with transferring open positions into a new entity is valuing them. What is the cost basis? And what would be your personal tax liability when moving them from your account? Lots of issues.

    Newer Traders, Consider Slowing Down

I lay a large part of the blame for this at the feet of major retail brokers. After cutting their stock commissions, they've poured their ad dollars into promoting options trading, leading the sheep to believe that it was the newer-faster-better way to make quick profits.
