    Very hard time taking loss:(

It's impossible to give you a number without knowing your system and what percent of wins you experience. If you manage to win more times than you lose then a 1 to 1 win/loss ratio is acceptable. You can risk 25 cents to make 25 cents if you win most of the time. However if you only win 1/2...

    Very hard time taking loss:(

Psychologically, for myself anyhow, I found it way easier to exit a trade moving against me when I was short. When I was long I had the tendancy to give it a little more room Hoping it would go back up. The problem seems to be not taking a loss. By trading the short side you learn to take...

    Very hard time taking loss:(

I agree . Reverse your long set-ups and trade the short side. Rather then wait for a stock to come back/averaging down/etc. you'll find that you take losses quicker when the trade goes against you. Toughest thing to do is sell and admit you're wrong. Way easier when you're trading short.

    Tape reading HELP

I notice the spike on the chart then checked T&S, Thats where I was able to get the number of shares traded. I get my realtime data from IB. I see that none of the delayed quote sources I use(Yahoo/stockcharts) showed the stock trading that low. I didn't have a stopsell in at the time but I'm...

    IB or MB Trading?

Check the ET Broker ratings. IB has by far the highest number of ratings and as far as I can see 83% positive is higher than any other broker. I have accounts with IB and MB's Canadian cousin TradeFreedom. While TradeFreedoms execution is better(I don't seem to lose as much in slippage) IB's...

    Swing traders --question

I have trouble keeping track of more than 10. Seems whatever one I'm watching does very little and the ones I don't watch take off. How do you look after that many? Are you placing buy/sell stops to get into the market?

    TAPE READING (chat room cont.)

Can some one explain what happened with LEND at 11:41 this morning. It was trading/printing 1 to 6 lot trades in the 46.60 area; then a trade of 100 lots @ 44.70 and then right back to 46.60 would this be a cross or someone mistakenly offering 100 lots at the wrong price? Would such a...

    Stock Swing Traders

Check out the weekly chart. nice cup with handle set-up. I might have waited for a break of 15.14 and would have probably had a little wider stop. 1:40 is a nice risk reward ratio. You can have a lot of losses if you eventually get a win.

Day Trading - A successful method for losers

You will find that when you have real money on the table many different emotions will kick in. With todays paper trade you probably wouldn't have been filled at your price as less than 1000 shares traded at 31.18 the next fill was at 31.25. Also less than 1000 traded at 31.51. Had you put a...

Day Trading - A successful method for losers

How many positions can you hold/follow at one time? The reason I ask is that with a limited account I am only able to hold a max of 5 positions. I usually have a watchlist of 10 or more stocks. It must be one of "Murphy's Laws" but it seems that the positions I enter don't do half as well as the...

    Long/Short Stock Swing Trading Journal

Any hint as to how you pick your stocks? There does not seem to be any common thread. Off topic : you seem to have done a lot of back testing. If you have a set up for back testing I have a fairly simple system I wouldn't mind having back tested.

    Long/Short Stock Swing Trading Journal

More questions. Will the system be long and short at the same time. All the picks so far have been long but I imagine it must be easy to find many stocks oversold in this rising market. What would make you go short? where do you trade for $3 per trade? I use IB $5 for 100 shares.

    Long/Short Stock Swing Trading Journal

Only on the first day or any time it drops 3% from the entry or any day that it drops 3% from the prior day? If you add to a position do you sell the whole position after 11 days or is the added portion treated like a new position? I hope that makes sense:)

    Long/Short Stock Swing Trading Journal

Sounds risky to me. Will you be adding to your position if tha target stocks continue to fall in price? How do you determin position size? I see all your picks are at EOD price. Is this when you enter the trade? Best of luck.
