Am I misunderstanding you, or were you born in 1990? My first mortgage was at 10% fixed, and that was a pretty fair deal for a first time homebuyer in 1987. If I recall correctly, we were in the middle of an all-out boom. Guess perspective plays a major part in valuation after all.

I do think simpler is better, and more complexity doesn't necessarily add value. However, when I looked around and saw 10 legal pads and several cell phones, I decided I'd better do the PDA thing, just to have it all in one place. :p

if the markets don't tip the hands of the players involved, then a whole lot of traders who have made a whole lot of money over a whole lot of years have been just plain lucky. And the odds certainly don't favor that hypothesis. It's axiomatic that positions are revealed in market activity...

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but that's an interesting point. However, bullets didn't keep the market from bottoming last fall; in fact, they didn't keep the market from making all time highs in 2000.
