    CTA Startup Costs

I just use Excel for my accounting. Took a lot of work to do it myself, but now it's totally integrated with my automated traded system in Excel using IB's TWS. BTW, CPOs have to be audited every year (rule 4.22(h)).

eCBOT (YM) stops, who can view them?

Why don't you set "mental" stops and watch the market and see if the same thing happens?

    YM just die?

More like medium rare, I think.

    Seeking BlackBox/GreyBox Systems

Sure, you can have mine. It doesn't work any way. Oh wait, no, it works brilliantly. Makes a 1000% a year. I'll sell it to you for just $25.....

    Nasdaq gap down history

"Results show that the probability of the Nasdaq trading lower after today's gap down are %67.5" I guess he'd be wrong about 32.5% of the time....

    Consistently Profitable Day Traders

I have you beat. I make about 1000% a year for the past 20 years. I would be the richest person in the world if I didn't spend all my profits at the strip club each night.....

    Consistently Profitable Day Traders

Sound like Monty Python to me: House? You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING! You were lucky to have a ROOM! *We* used to...

Are there any Jim Rogers' fans here?

"When you read contemporary accounts of booms or panics the one thing that strikes you most forcibly is how little either stock speculation or stock speculators to-day differ from yesterday. The game does not change and neither does human nature." Reminiscences Of A Stock Operator

    housing crash

True, but it proves the point either way. Either the real estate values are way too high. Or people have unrealistic expectations. It's amazing. A house like that in Phoenix, where I live, would probably sell for $150K if it is in a nice neighborhood. Then it would be torn down, a new...

    housing crash

I can't understand it. My grandparents have a much nicer and larger house in Queens 10 minute walk from the subway. It sells for less than that.

    housing crash

Is that house leaning over about to topple? Or does somebody need to learn how to keep the camera level?

Why do people buy more than they can afford? And why do these people live in LA?

    Automated trading through Excel

A lot of people have discussed the reliability of Excel ActiveX, VB, DDE, etc. Let me say again, if you are making a lot of trades and need lightning fast execution, Excel is probably not for you. But if you trading less frequently, such as a few trades a day, I see no problem with Excel...

    Automated trading through Excel

I use Excel and Interactive Brokers. But it all depends on what you do. For example, a lot of my work is based on fundamentals (interest rates, earnings, etc). You obviously can't use a TradeStation for that. The major advantage of Excel is that a non-programmer can easily make changes to...

    Dems on WMDs

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to...

    spam blocking software

I use spampal (spampal.org) along with the Bayesian plugin. I get about 200 spam a day and it catches about 99% of them. But, as with all spam programs, be careful of false positives until you have it set up correctly. You can also create a "whitelist" from outlook (using a plugin) so that...

    New to system development

If you can't create a moving average in Excel, you probably shouldn't be developing a system in Excel. Of course other technical indicators are more difficult. A good place to go is xltraders group on Yahoo. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xltraders/ In the files section, they have indicator...
