    Esignal outage

My rule of thumb? Once a vendor flakes out, I'm done using that vendor for the duration of the day. I won't return to them until the next session. Let them have plenty of hours to shake out what's wrong.

    Esignal outage

Yep, Man is my main (I also have a seat on the CBOT), TS is my 'if I need it' backup and IB is my long term/swing trading account.

    Esignal outage

OK, here's my setup which works for me. Is it the 'best' combination? I doubt it, but when things happen, this is what I've muddled around to. My main trading stuff is a Dell Inspiron 8600 running Esignal, Ninjatrader running on top of Man Financial. I don't scalp much so the charts on the...

Is that directed at me Slackeral?

    Esignal outage

Do you mean to tell me you guys bitching don't have a backup chart vendor? Shit like this happens. It sucks, but we're using an inexpensive internet based chart vendor. You think the pro traders log into Esignal via their DSL/cable modem from their laptops or PC's like we do? Yea, sure... If...

Who got hurt on that spike today?

makes for a helluva candle though. Maybe I should go long? :D

Who got hurt on that spike today?

It just happened AGAIN. YM spiked down to 10306 from the 5 min open bar of 10367. It immediately came back but the quotes on the DOM window went all nuts again. WTF??? Happen to anybody else?

    What the heck just happened

DIA dropped too. All the way to $102.62 from a 5 min close the bar before at $104.51... Some newbie must have misentered a serious trade! He'll be unemployed soon.

    Chicago Prop. firm (futures)

Transact Futures in the CBOT building has prop stuff, both a daytime trading room and an overnight Europe room. Unsure if they offer a draw/salary. http://www.transactfutures.com/PropTrading.htm

    X_Trader and ADSL

Get the PPPoE login process off your CPU. If your modem has ethernet, get a $40 router and use that to do your DSL connecting. I have never seen a stable USB connected DSL connection ever. Do yourself the favor and get a router. Your PC will become much more stable. Plus, you'll have a built...

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

That's it. Right there. You're afraid of when the music's going to stop and you won't be able to find a seat (or in this case, get out of the seat/trade). Try this, as it helped me. Look at the idea that *maybe* you're not built for holding the length of a tradeable trend. Consider the idea...

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

I think the point I'm making about emotions and the point some of the others are making about technicals are both correct. IMO, one cannot have control of one without control of the other. You could have drawn charts with golf pencils until your fingers bleed but if you can't manage the trade...

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Lefty, While I do agree with your statements that the prep work is mandatory, but, at least for me, and I'd bet the vast majority of traders, is, when is the information enough? When do you know enough to be able to feel that you've gotten it? Because that could take an entire career. And...

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Look beneath the surface people! The problem he is having is NOT technical. It's emotional. If he REALLY would admit why he does what he does, it's because of fear. Fear of missing out of the entire turn and fear cause by the perception of lack of abundance. Think about it. If he TRULY...

That's exactly what I wanted. Thanks for this. I appreciate it.

    YM just die?

I am not a math guy, at least, not a stats guy. Is there a figure I could reasonably use for myself that says, on average, if I'm trading X # of YM contracts, that if I need to hedge and assuming the ES entry price would be placed at the same price (e.g. YM on the 9:04am bar was X. The same...

    YM just die?

Yes, but margin requirements have to be considered too. Not that I'm trading so big that I couldn't do it this way, but I wanted to be within the futures market rather than dropping to the ETFs. Plus, who wants to screw with wash sales? :p

    YM just die?

Exactly. But I was willing to be off a bit (at least today) in order to minimize the losses I was anticipating. This was the calc that I knew existed but did not know how to create so instead of determining how many ES at the same level can be expected to offset the YM , I just threw 15 at it...
