Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

I'm posting an example of the euro, snapshot made a few seconds ago. I'm curious what others would do. Would you: - Short at pink resistance (1.246)? - Anticipate a breakout and add long above 1.246? Feel free to add any other choices. I ask because I've nailed some good 3-5...

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

I think I remember reading that you're in the UK but I don't remember. If so, have you tried trading European markets? I'm in France so trading ES is from 3:30 - 10pm. Not so easy with a family. So in the past I've traded DAX & Eurostoxx 50. I'm not sure if they have the equivalent of TICk.

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

It's interesting to watch ES respecting these pivot levels even during the overnight session. I'm curious if everyone is using the bollinger band price & ticket setup, or are people just trading no the levels themselves based on the price action? I've been playing with the idea of...

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

Possible short at 63 *IF* the indexes do not rally.. If they rally then go long above 63. Futures volume is stable for me.

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

I am sorry if I gave the impression that I was predicting. I'm just going over the possible outcomes and I'm anticipating what will happen next so that I know in advance what I will do. This morning I'm going over my pivots for the markets I trade. Oil is following the indexes very closely...

Any reason we're not going limit down again?

Looks like ES is finding support at 830, but I'm not sure it'll hold. Today's a Monday so if there's another big down day it's most likely today. Also today is the last Monday in October, so there is hope for a rally this afternoon or tomorrow to take us into November and the presidential...

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

Dropping like a rock. First downside target is 60, second is 50. The move will almost definitely stop at 50 and as I said previously, if the indexes rally, it'll probably stop at 60.

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

I actually think we'll both be right. Oil is following the indexes. If it's bad for the market, it's bad for the economy, and if it's bad for the economy then it's bad for oil. The markets are currently down 3-4% and oil is down 2% (overnight session). However I feel we are very close...

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

I'm curious if you all make new S/R lines during the day? Often I find them while trading and then later on (sometimes an hour later, sometimes towards the end of the session) price will bounce off these lines. It's pretty cool. I'm wondering what the priority is on all these, if some...

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

When I said "not true at all" I was referring to trading the dollar as gambling. :) I will visit your journal and we can exchange ideas unrelated to oil there.

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

This isn't true at all. I actually shorted the dollar index around 83, thinking it would be resistance. When it broke through, I reversed and went long thinking 83 would hold as support. This is 1 DX contract. I lost $1k on the short, and the next day was up like $200. And then DX took off...

    Daytrading options

Hi Mark, thanks for your very informative explanation and yes you are convincing. It's unusual to see someone with a genuine concern for others and I appreciate that. For the person who suggested QQQQ, I have found an edge with a few stocks. But as I explained, I cannot trade any size with...

How to hedge for the opening?

To update the thread, I hedged my long ES position with shorts for YM & TF. TF is the weakest, and YM the strongest. Normally I'd short the weakest but I figure this gives me less risk. I'm not sure I shouldn't have just sold my ES long position but I think it's much easier to keep track...

    Daytrading options

I have some stocks I trade, I always enter on the open and exit on the close, usually the same day but sometimes I hold a week. Many of the stocks are low volume and so I'm limited in how much money I can trade without driving the price. I'm curious if I could use options instead of...

Long Oil into Opec Meeting - Your take

No worries. I entered extended from support, it was a risk. I was at work so decisions had to be made in seconds. (I'm in an openspace and everyone can see my screen). Today I'm home thank god! Your stop at 59 is quite far for me. I'm in at 64.18 and stop at 64.24 (low of 11:30 bar -...

    I'm seeing major positive divergences

I'm not saying to look for longs, I'm looking to see who is getting stronger, who is getting weaker. What I see is the bears are getting weaker. That's one of the things the force index measures. It's a combination of volume & price. a price drop with low volume isn't forceful. So this...

    I'm seeing major positive divergences

Try looking at a 60 min chart and tell me if you see the same thing. What I've seen several times now the ES goes down on low volume and in the last 30 minutes the market goes up on higher volume. So what I've been trying to do is analyze the volume at the hourly level. In many down days...

    I'm seeing major positive divergences

Please be me specific, I don't see what you're referring to. If I incorrectly identified positive divergence I'd like to learn how I can improve.

    I'm seeing major positive divergences

Everyone trades their beliefs. I managed to add on 2 long TF and 1 long CL, all 3 positive with a stoploss at breakeven. So it's a free spin of the wheel.
