    Trader P/L 2006

I agree that 100 lotters offer lessons too. But on this thread only blotters are allowed. So what do you really expect to learn from them here? I think the 100 lotters would be far better suited to start up a journal where they can discuss what they are doing along with their blotters and...

    Trader P/L 2006

No offense to Swing Out and Pete, but I am not inspired by them. In fact, I wonder why they have chosen this forum rather than starting journals where they can get feedback that might help them up the learning curve. mksummny, Millenium Man, Red Inc, Steve, Szeven, lescor, EchoPatrick...

    Trader P/L 2006

I'll vouch for Patrick too. He's for real. Our strategies do overlap somewhat and here's how I did today. Both you and Corey make valid points. But in the end I'd rather have intermittent profitable posters than none at all. It's not a coincidence that the number of regular profitable...

Jim Rogers on Bloomberg 11am ET

The older you get, the more you see, the more cynical you become. You don't get rich buying into the mainstream view. If you need a cynicism booster, watch the interview on Dylan Ratigan's CNBC show tonight with the economic hit man. His book was a real eye-opener. I'll be Tivo'ing it.

Jim Rogers on Bloomberg 11am ET

You mean other than being long commodities through his commodity index fund for the last 5 or 6 years? I for one have done quite well for listening to him pound the table for commodities. Just because he doesn't give you an audited trade list doesn't mean he's not for real.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I mentioned this a few pages back but never got a response. When placing orders through the ActiveX API, orders for shorts that are rejected because the stock can't be borrowed generates a pop-up. For us automated traders that creates a screen full of pop-ups to close. Today I had 40...

    IB auto-locate

I agree with the other posters that the locate is way too slow. It would be nice to be able to send manual locate requests premarket and get shares located before open. This is a great concept that just needs some tweaking to be effective.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

That's strange Chiguy I had one of my busiest days in a while. 20 fills, all long, +1600. I doublechecked my numbers on my spreadsheet and I can't find an error. Did you have an error in your spreadsheet?

Steve Cohen on 60 Minutes now

I thought the most interesting point was at the very end and it was only mentioned in passing: Camelback is now known as Gradient, aka the guys in the middle of the OSTK battle.

I'm curious how you did this because on my hotkey menu I can't separate them.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

First, Is there a way to eliminate the popups that appear for short orders that are rejected due to being HTB? They are a nightmare for us API users. They seemed to have appeared on the last release of TWS. Second, I got a bulletin notifying me that a stock I had tried to short this...

ib market orders on the open

I am highly doubtful orders are being held more than a millisecond and can't imagine them holding an order long enough to interfere with an opening only order. I submit hundreds of opening only orders each morning and have never seen any evidence of an order being held. Can you provide proof...

ib market orders on the open

This was correct a couple years ago, but is incorrect now. Routing to SMART will route to NYSE and AMEX correctly for the opening print. In fact, if you are doing it via the API and have unbundled commisions you HAVE to route to SMART to avoid a routing surcharge (I have discovered). This...

Don's Openings and More for 2006

My intuition says the exact opposite. If there's automatic (irrational) buying on the open of the first day of the month, I probably want to be short. One of my best trades today was a short, FYI.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I'd like to be able to specify that API generated orders don't change the order focus in a window. In other words if I'm manually entering an order and an API order is being modified or submitted on the same page I'd like keep the focus on the order being manually entered. Otherwise you can...

New IB Commissions for High Volume Stock Traders

I think the only way to know for sure is to switch and see what your commissions come out to be. It's not like you're going to broke finding out. You can always switch back if you don't like what you see. I was very surprised at my savings. I was averaging .004 on NYSE and .003 an Nasdaq...

How does IB handle positions with MOC orders? Is it possible for IB to liquidate a position between 3:40 and 4:00 even though an MOC order is in? Thanks!
