    Trying to post charts

on the HD, the break that you chose to short came quite soon after it had already made its largest move down so far that day, so it was a bit of a chase. If you want to look for new lows to short, a breakdown of a sideways consolidation or a double-bottom failure is always a bit safer, with...

Just what goes through my head for a given trade . . . Lots of times daily charts will give me ideas for intraday trades, and the ones I manage to get lucky on entry points are trades I like to keep overnight. SYMC was a missed trade on the daily chart, having gapped down on another...

I'm trying to do some pairs trading (buying strength, selling weakness) based on chart divergences, but it's damn hard for someone not used to it to try and hold positions you know are likely to go against you. These are a couple charts of a software sector pairs trade, short ADBE/long INTU.

That MS Paint just gets addicting you know :D Yeah I know, it's real easy in retrospect to pull out the chalk and point to this low and that high on the chart -- altogether different when you're skating the hard right edge. Example here -- why did I cover when I did? Dunno, had to have...

Sorry I think I'm getting carried away with the all the arrows, will try to keep that stuff to a minimum hehe.

This one was pretty unusual, a multi-day divergence in a high profile Nasdaq name. By 7/10, I was looking for any excuse to get long and stay long, but the evil voice inside my head whispered "too obvious, idiot" and I sadly missed out big time. This would be the kind of setup I wouldn't mind...

Here's another chart from thursday, and this divergence actually preceded and IMO predicted the NQ/ES divergence of the same day. I think certain stocks can actually give you a head start on the nas futures, of course I might just be seeing things. :D

That's the limitation, most of the stocks I watch are very difficult to scalp beyond 1000 shares, as the gains one scalper makes is usually at the expense of another. I consider any profits I make in scalping icing on the cake -- I'll be the first to admit that the greater percentage of my...

Same here, I usually don't put much faith in the reverse situation with the greater volatility being in the nasdaq.

This NQ/ES divergence on thursday was the major tell for me and colored my trading for friday as well. When nasdaq manages not to join the spoo in breaking fresh bottoms, always sticks out like a sore thumb.

Hey all, wanted to post a few charts, get some feedback, etc. I'm primarily an intraday trader, with 80% of my trades being closed by eod (the other 20% are the losers I averaged down on of course -- JK! :D) I trade only on nasdaq and certain indices on amex. I do alot of scalping flips...

    Trading Journal - July

Nice posts, although by the time you're posting your entries the exits seem to have already been filled :) For your time frame you should pop in the chatroom and post there instead. Great trading day!

the trend is up, market has bottomed.

God forbid if anyone actually dared to anticipate market direction for more than .10 at a time (gasp!). And on that god-awful nasdaq market! I mean, jeez, that would fall under *trading* wouldn't it? Like using ur head and taking some risk -- yuck!!! ps -- what exactly do they do at...

    SuperEgo

Just goes to show how easily ppl get indignant from another trader proclaiming his technique -- as if we were discussing religion here. Would you all prefer super_ego to preface every line with "most of the time . . . usually a good idea to . . . hopefully this trade will go your way . . ...

    I'm Home MaMa

near open bot 2000 KLAC @ 44 (cuz the tickers were like, all green man!); 30 minutes later short 4000 NVDA @ 18.60 (for staggered pair) covered NVDA 18.73 (ascending triangle break, and like, market wouldn't go down), sld KLAC @ 45.85 (eod, trailing stops never hit).

    Making Money in Nasdaq?

Must be the NYSE giving prop brokerages a big break on trading fees (and hence greater margins) that they all seem to be pushing that market. Is this a plausible explanation?

    Making Money in Nasdaq?

I still dont see why (at least it seems to me) the majority of people here prefer trading NYSE intraday -- to me nasdaq is still the center of the action when it comes to online trading. Sure the volatility is a beast, but that's the way it's been for years. NYSE - the idea of trading off the...
