THE ARBITRAGE AND SPREAD TRADING THREAD

Spreadem: You are absolutely right. But, I just couldn't get the index's (sp?) to trade as well as the NYSE stocks I use. Not enough movement within my time frames. Thanks for the advice.

Any one know Alex Elder personally?

Love two of his books - "Trading for a Living" and "Welcome to my Trading Room". Wondered if he has a web site or how to find out a bit more about his seminars (if it's worth the time/cost)? THANKS

THE ARBITRAGE AND SPREAD TRADING THREAD

I've traded pairs (NYSE/DJIA stocks) for over 10 months quite profitably. Key is knowing which stocks to 'pair' against each other, entry points, profit targets, historical relationship, access to enough capital for 'mid-term' (1 - 10 days) 'carry', and the discipline to 'let it happen'. It's...

    Jeff Cooper off RealMoney

Who is Todd Harrison and how do I find out more about his service, web site, or whatever?

    Non-free stock pickers

Used Apogee since last September. They have paid for their fee several times over. These are "buy and hold", or "sell (short) and sit", picks. But, they've been 'spot-on' in most everything. Even with their 'losers' I've turned $80,000 into just under $90,000 (after commissions, margin...

What book or class influences your trading today the most?

Best Books: - Elder's "Trading for a Living" and "Come into my Trading Room". - "Rem. of a Stock Operator" - Schwager's "Wizards. . . ." (All three volumes). Best Guru: Dr. Oscar Goldman, Trader Tech...

The most usable financial web site for EXPERIENCED trader?

I've tried Moneynet, TheStreet (including RealMoney and RealMoneyPro), Bollinger's new site and a few others, both paid and 'free'. The BEST, for quick information (timely) and 'okay' analysis is Briefing.com - $10/month and easy to use.

    Brights Ratings

I'd agree - Bright is as ethical and clean as possible in this business, the very best (and the Brightest??). However, the training and monitoring is not enough for newbies like I was two years ago. I 'blew-out' my account a few times, lost most of my small fortune and made a fool of myself...

    Marty Schwartz "Pit Bull" Book

His audio version is real similar to Cramer's audio version of "Street Addict". Both very entertaining, but, little usable information or ideas. GOOD book on Cramer from one of his former employees - "Trading with the Enemy".

    Any RealMoney Pro users?

I used the 'basic' service for several months. My favorite 'guy', Herb Greenberg, 'moved' to the Pro (hi-buck) page. I tried it, it ain't worth it ($2200/year) for my trading style. Good-Luck anyway.
