Be very careful in any materials you produce that show historical or backtested returns. The regulators love to go after people who lied, made mistakes in their favor, or presented backtested results as actual historical returns.

    Trading US stocks with leverage

You aren't going to get better margin leverage on US stocks than you do already for CFDs. IB might be a cheap place to trade them, so they could be worth checking out.

This hedge fund has just paid its senior staff £3.7m after an amazing year

To be clear, since it's not from the headline, they paid $4M or so on average per senior staff member, not in total across all everyone.

Can Interactive brokers call back margin loans even on a profitable account?

Not sure about that, but you can check specific tickers at IB like this: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?key=SKLN&cntry=usa&tag=United+States&ib_entity=llc&ln=&f=5168&ns=T

Option question about SYNGENTA AG Sponsored ADR

If you really care, here's the buyout docs, 70 pages of light reading and that's before the dozen or so amendments. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1123661/000119312516514057/d134186dex99a1i.htm Here are the rest of the company's filings...

Option question about SYNGENTA AG Sponsored ADR

It is all cash and it's a done deal. I will say there is a catch for the options however. If you can't find it, you shouldn't be trading them.

Can Interactive brokers call back margin loans even on a profitable account?

Short positions can have even bigger requirement increases. Some stocks that used to be 100% to short at IB were raised to 200-600% based on high volatility, and for the most part remain there even after the volatility has passed.

    order efficiency ratio at IB

That warning was for an account with several thousand place/edit/cancels per day. I was also told that OER over 50 was a hard cutoff, on a daily basis.

    order efficiency ratio at IB

I talked to one of the API guys about this. I think the OER is measured daily but you only get the email warning if it's too high over some recent, multi day period. I had a high OER one day because I didn't get many fills, while the next day with similar order activity levels was fine since I...

    order efficiency ratio at IB

I got that warning recently too. The part I don't understand is that their policy seems to be 3 times under a 2% fill ratio for the day (ie >50 OER) and they start cracking down, threatening to turn off your account, etc. This doesn't take into account how many days you have been trading, or...

IB TWS - Freezing & Crashing

Yeah, the latest updates (as of 2 weeks back or whatever) definitely seem a bit slower on the same system than the earlier version.

IB - 4/1/17 TWS update, tips and tricks (column issue solved)

TWS stable updated today and my memory settings were indeed preserved automatically after I moved them as described above. Aside from the downloading of the new files and restarting TWS once in order to get logged in, there were no obvious changes or issues reverting.

    Order-to-execution ratio too high?

Yeah I got these for a while. They want a fill ratio of 1% (100:1 or less), preferably lower. If you add some timing delays in your algo logic so you avoid getting into fast place/cancel loops under certain market conditions and/or other algo interactions, you can often cut down on the your...

DB will be bailed in if it comes to that. Germany can't afford to bail out all the PIIGS bad banks if they set that precedent.

IB - 4/1/17 TWS update, tips and tricks (column issue solved)

Thanks. Next time it happens I'll write a shell script to check that file and do the replacement before running the TWS executable. I've got enough to do work for trading without doing menial things repeatedly, especially if they can be easily automated.

    IB TWS layout nightmare

This may be like the Key column - it's only there if you have an order that has a Key linked to another order. But you can proactively include the Key column in the shown order fields and move it off to the far right by putting it at the bottom of the list. I don't use their algos to know for...

IB - 4/1/17 TWS update, tips and tricks (column issue solved)

TWS has updated a few times since this past weekend, presumably minor changes or bug fixes. Anyway, the annoying thing I notice is that my graphics memory (#1 above) keeps reverting. Reading tws.vmoptions more carefully this time, I realize that where in that file you set the graphics memory...
