    Natural Strength

The natural gas market has been surprisingly strong of late, even in the face of milder temperatures and relatively high levels of gas in storage (1564 bcf as of last Friday according to the EIA"s release today). The May contract went off the board today at 7.508, just a nickel under the April...

    NYMEX to start trading Uranium

I read that last week in some online publication, but can no longer recall which. The article mentioned that it will be financially settled to avoid exposure to the radioactivity. The thing that strikes me is, there are only so many utilities that use this stuff, so I anticipate that it will...

    Crude Oil

Tomatoes are much more price elastic than energy; there are other vegetables that can be substituted for tomatoes if the price gets too high. Conversely there are few alternatives to oil for motor fuel at this point, and the global economy is largely dependent on petroleum to fuel its...

I am declaring the next stop is $70 per barrel!!!

One will come long before the other...70 crude and 4 dollar gasoline (wholesale) would put the gas crack at 98 bucks, and if you're talking 4 dollar retail gasoline the screen would be close to 3.25 which would equate to a 66.50 crack....we shouldn't see 4 dollar gasoline until crude gets over...

I am declaring the next stop is $70 per barrel!!!

Good to know, thanks. Honestly I was unaware. The registration is not working for me, but I will try it another time. It gives me this error message: Request could not be completed. Operation is not in sequence.

I am declaring the next stop is $70 per barrel!!!

Don't think you'll find that...you should be able to get delayed quotes from the NYMEX or even Bloomberg websites, but you will not find anywhere that gives you tick by tick real time quotes without paying for them. If you do post them here, but the exchange charges for their data and will not...

    Crude Oil

What I think has happened is that the NYMEX WTI contract has gotten out of synch with the global oil market, so for the moment Brent seems to be a better barometer for oil worldwide than CL due to the glut at Cushing. Brent is trading around 67.20 at the moment and WTI is 64.40, and was trading...

Get long June Crude Contract $64.50/ 4-9-07

Different animals as I understand it. The currency carry trade takes advantage of prevailing interest rate discrepancies between different currencies, while the cost of carry has to do with the time value of money and the cost associated with tying your money up in a given instrument.

    Huge CL move tomorrow/Wed

How did you fare? Decent pop right after the release, but actually a fairly tame day all things considered... The fact that RBOB only finished up 350 points from yesterday's settle and couldn't break 21700 is welcome news from a consumer's perspective (actually only up 280 now as I type)...

Get long June Crude Contract $64.50/ 4-9-07

Congrats on your winning trade, that's great. Not trying to sound like a cynic, and not saying I am the wizard, but if you don't fully understand the difference between cost of carry in the dollar index and massive contango in the crude market (you might want to research that for your own...

Get long June Crude Contract $64.50/ 4-9-07

You need to specify June....front month is May, which is 62.43. Note this move is entirely attributable to gasoline, which is up 430 pts. at 2.1650 (May). The draw there was 5.5 million bbls., far more than was expected. The crude build was less than expectations at 700K bbls. which is...

Wow! Brent 5$ higher than Light

Huh? Are you talking about the May WTI/Brent spread?? That's what the thread was discussing, the difference between the two crudes. There's been a lot in the media about it the past few days, with a glut of crude at Cushing due to the already mentioned refinery outages that OldTrader...

Get long June Crude Contract $64.50/ 4-9-07

A $3 spread between front and next nearby reflects a total lack of demand for the commodity at present. I think more accurately it reflects a glut of oil, which is due in part to refinery outages and their correspondingly lack of demand for crude to refine into products. Note the gasoline...

    Huge CL move tomorrow/Wed

Ha ha...that is funny shit. I'm not so sure the thread starter is aware that this number comes out each and every Wednesday, but none the less, tomorrow should be interesting to say the least. I agree that having an open position into the number is mor eor less gambling without some sort of...

    Big C.L. - or - Mini QM ? ?

Definitely CL...this topic has been covered on numerous threads. CL has much tighter spreads by nature (trades in penny ticks instead of 2.5 cent ticks in QM) and volume has been increasing and is much higher since CL went on the screen last summer. The only reason to trade QM would be if 500...

    BEST News for CL?

Not sure how fast the news will surface (not really "real-time" unless you pay), but the best free sites I know of are Bloomberg.com under energy, oil.com, and Platts.com to name a few. If you find any other really good ones please post them here.
