A Chinese Brokerage for U.S. Stocks Seeks a Nasdaq Listing

Who knows when China will give them a brokerage license for mainland china. Many brokers were hoping they would get access to China after Bill Clinton's government struck a deal that allowed them into the WTO. They're still waiting for access LOL

    When to switch to IB

My compliance department is a bunch of idiots and life would be easier if they simply did not exist. . . We are allowed to hold outside trading accounts with another firm if its for products/strategies that my firm doesn't support. For example my firm doesn't do futures or Algos so my...

A Chinese Brokerage for U.S. Stocks Seeks a Nasdaq Listing

IB financed their customer. Tiger Brokers has over 76,000+ accounts with IB. Tiger Brokers and other mainland firms are IB's gateway into China since they don't have a brokerage license of their own to solicit mainland residents.

    When to switch to IB

They don't auto-liquidate 48 hours ahead of time. Or at least they don't have that policy currently. Generally it's 2 hours before market close if the account doesn't have enough margin to exercise the options. Generally that's pretty standard for Risk departments. My firm does it 3-4 hours...

    Broker against profitable strategies

Too hard to track someone doing a quantitative strategy since there's a time delay though definitely do take notice of what positions are in the big client accounts. Nothing wrong with that. If you have a client that has beaten the S&P for over...

What venue you send the orders to?

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

Again this is an anecdotal way to judge execution quality and price improvement over Nbbo. If you sent a lot of orders using both SMART route and direct to CBOE then run a report on the previous executions. You are misleading yourself if your determining execution quality that way. Take all away...

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

Splitting across exchanges is better for execution quality. Imagine if your forced to send 4 legs to a single exchange where 2 buy/sell orders sitting on another exchange will give you price improvement. Sometimes the other exchange won't do 4 legs but has better prices for half of your orders.

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

I've worked at Questrade for years. At Questrade we sell your order flow to large High Frequency traders(Citadel,Apex for USA and ITS for Canada). These firms will mostly internalize the order flow versus IB and don't really do any price improvement over NBBO. Questrade doesn't have a smart...
