https://www.wsj.com/articles/renaissance-says-losses-should-have-been-expected-at-some-point-11611008784 In the letter sent late Friday, the firm said losses of between 20% and 30% in 2020 for its three funds open to outside investors should have been expected at some point during the course of...

Technical Question about Candlestick Bar ?

Candlestick bars use the standard EOD or minute data that is open, high, low, close; the colar of the bar depends on only open and close; It does not tell which of low and high happens first. I asked a question about how to guess a few weeks ago on ET. No accurate solution except using tick data.

It was traded over $60 around 2000 then all the way down and did a reverse split 8 to 1 in 2012. has only 30 employees now. may go much higher and i guess eventually it could down to nothing.

3 problems with crypto's scarcity claim

Similarly, in the network, we have a limited maximum number of around 4 billions of IPv4 addresses when the Internet was invented. Now we have a lot more than 4 billion devices and each has its own sort of IP addresses of IPv4 and private IPv4 addresses (reused in different sub-networks) and...

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

Hi GaryBtrader, think again about your point. It gives me a clue to consider factoring in broader market index intraday data to improve the accuracy for individual stocks. Really appreciated your input. Thanks.

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

Totally agreed. I still think a simple easy and fast approach that could be more efficient for my purpose.

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

As I said it is an interesting problem to solve. I might not be any use to most of people, but I just wanted to use standard EOD data in a slightly improved way during some back-test using EOD data.

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

Not really it helps to predict, but it just rebuild some of the timing data from the lost EOD so that it helps in some back-test only which I am trying to figure out when no intraday data is available to check.

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

Agreed. Me too think so. But when intraday data is not available or missing, at least there is some way to help. Also very interesting if EOD data were reported in a format of open,extreme1,extreme2,close,vol, here extreme1 or extreme2 is just one of high or low but tell which comes first. Easy...

The time sequence of high and low in EOD data

Here is an interesting question. Without intraday minutes data, what is the best way to guess which of high and low happens first assuming only regular EOD data, that is, open, high, low, close, vol data is available? The EOD data does not have any information to tell which of high or low comes...

    the first-digit law

Yes. I got the almost the same for SPY closing prices as you did. The closing prices for one stock does not really following the first-digit law because they are not random enough across multiple magnitude. But consider the closing prices for a large number of stocks per day, it almost perfectly...

    the first-digit law

The first-digit law or Benford's law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benford%27s_law is about a mysterious mathematical phenomena that does not have a convince proof yet. It says the distribution of the first-digit in many number sets following a logarithmic probability distribution instead of...

European Companies With The Biggest China Exposure

Interesting. But as for the semi industry, I do not understand NXPI will take a big hit even though its exposure to China is big, what is the choice if China do not buy from NXPI, simply there is no other choice but only from a limited small number of over-sea counties. So, the result might be...
