Why Is The Not So Obvious Obvious?

Could you post an example of what you mean?

    Clueless, need some advice please!

Trading futures is very very hard. Clearly you do not have the passion interest etc. to learn what amounts to a profession which requires the same dedication and tutelage as being a lawyer or a CPA (plus emotional intelligence). Moreover, YOU would need to decide on an acceptable drawdown...

    Toad79's TopstepTrader Combine Journal

It looks like TopStep changed their combine rules two days ago. I will have study them but at first glance, it seems that any significant drawdown would end the combine. The older rules seem more tolerant of drawdowns (after an equity high).

    Toad79's TopstepTrader Combine Journal

Thanks for this journal. I also trade crude and it is very helpful to see the performance of other traders to gauge what is possible, likely, doable. Do you have a scalping system in store in case you need to bump up your winning % at the end? One thought is after a big day up, try scalping...

    That's a great chart! Peak oil versus innovation/fracking/natural gas/renewables?

    I just have one question

Calling a top like the OP is pure gambling. There are reversal patterns (like the 1-2-3 setup) which at least have some statistical support. But just deciding that the market has gone far enough, and then using a fairly tight stop? That's donating money to the market.

    CL Redux

OVX over 28, since the trading floor opened, CL has moved about $1.50. Nice volatility after the doldrums since December.

    CL Redux

I love studying Ammo's charts, which are totally different from the charts I use and see. I think that Ammo uses a form of Market Profile analysis, which I understand was developed by J. Peter Steidlmayer. Ammo I'm sure can explain his views better than I can. I'm just chiming in to say...

I'm kinda surprised that the death of Chavez and the new highs in equities haven't produced buyers of Crude. The oil trend seems very strong.

    CL Redux

I was just wondering when you were going to chime in about the absolute lack of volatility. CL sure has been atypically quiet (especially during RTH) since December.

    CL Redux

Is your analysis based on this chart that CL is likely to head to either 96.04 or to 94? Is that how you would read this market profile?

    CL Redux

My analysis (if you can call it that) is that ES has not broken down, and that CL jumped the gun, and will retrace. If the S&P 500 jumps just a little, CL will roar back up.

    CL Redux

CL has dropped about $1.00 -- Did the guy doing all of the buying go to lunch? My guess is that CL retraces back to 96 before it hits 95.

Best route for a newbie with limited capital?

I don't think that capital or working in the financial industry has much of anything to do with being a successful trader. First off, if you want to be a trader, Futures not stocks or options, make the most sense. Why? 1. Much better tax treatment. 2. No pattern day trading rules...
