    help on hedging usdcad currency.

if you are not DAYTRADING, you can buy options or futures contracts which would allow you to hedge your exposure...i'm not sure what the Montreal Exchange has in the way of derrivatives, but i'm pretty sure the CME contract is too big for a 25k CAD account. check the Montreal Exchange...

    help on hedging usdcad currency.

if you are DAYTRADING with someone like IB, you can select CAD as your 'base' currency and trade all the USD stocks you want.... when you buy a USD stock you will be 'short' USD against the position...it is up to you to convert your CAD to USD to cover the currency defecit for that position...

    Death by 1000 Cuts

This journal will document my effort to un-blow up an account by doing the exact opposite of what every new trader seems to be able to instinctively do so well. I have always been excellent at cutting my losses and letting my winners run…unfortunately those few occasions where I have...

does this mean a BOTTOM is in--

short term there has to be some kind of bounce, since markets are deeply oversold here. longer term, as someone on ET astutely pointed out: this may be one of those occasions when the crowd is correct.

    Youngtrader's Commodity Journal

watch the long side of the EUR/USD, this thing is starting to spin its wheels. the USD 'should' be crashing through the floor here - FFF now calling for .2 prob. of 100 basis point cut and the euro rallies then closes on its lows twice in a row....

POLL: Cover my YM LONG @ 12395 ????

don't puke at the lows, cover next strength if you are uncomfortable...but more importantly don't take positions spontaneously and ask for advice on message boards, that is not a winning strategy...

    Pabst's Blue Ribbon Trades

i'll be the first to admit i know very little about options, but i'm guessing there are volatility premiums in the options that are not accounted for by the strange vix behavior. loading up on premium during a panic whether or not it is accounted for by the vix doesn't seem like the best idea...

Did they overdo it after hours?

I know its the end of the USA and all that, but this thing looks oversold in light of this afterhours madness... maybe i'm just cranky because i tried to go bottom fishing at the close ;) still, i bet we open at better levels than 1375 (SnP futs) tomorrow morning.

    12,500 was strong support

i don't get this TA philosophy that if we break a level then it automatically implies that we go lower...i understand the principal behind it, but i have also witnessed that it scarcely works. how many times do we cross above and below a level a dozen times? the market won't go down a bunch...
