Scalping off the Tick Chart? Bid, Ask or Last?

@Nobert - I'm with you. I can't see how it matters much. I just wanted to get a few more opinions. Some of our friends here know way way more than me. Always good to pick their brains. Sometimes i overlook facts obvious to others.

Scalping off the Tick Chart? Bid, Ask or Last?

I see the question was raised 6 years ago without much discussion. For stocks and ETFs, what are the ramifications of charting the bid instead of the last? I've done both with market orders only and think i prefer the "bid". Just curious as to what others think?

For active traders: which tax status have you chosen? Investor, Trader Status, or Mark to Market?

Makes sense. In my case I'm 62 and don't really need withdrawals.

Scalping with a hard stop loss

For my intraday trades, in pre-market i multiply the stock i plan to trade xs .25% and that is my hard stop. I'm not saying it's the best plan of action, but for me, it's currently the best I've come up with.

For active traders: which tax status have you chosen? Investor, Trader Status, or Mark to Market?

I think one can avoid considering tax status and avoid keeping trade records for tax preparer (IRS) if he simply trades his IRA account. Correct me if that sounds wrong.

Question for brainy math person: How to calculate new setting for ParabolicSAR

I trade stocks and ETFs off a 1 minute chart. Default setting for ParabolicSAR is 0.02 / 0.2 What i want to accomplish is make ParabolicSAR chart (on my 1 minute chart) exactly as it would, if i were running a 3 minute chart. Logic being, that in general i now use a second window, running 3...

Turns out that CenturyTel Support now says ... I checked and it looks like 3 Mbps is already exhausted, it means that is full of users, that's why you are not able to use this speed at this moment I do apologize for it because I know your neighbors enjoy that speed but unfortunately is not...

Answer my question about modems (recommended modems)?

Hey Robert, I guess i could go the library route, but wouldn't enjoy it. I've thought about renting office space in town, but then again, i don't really want to do that either. I've even thought about relocating but doubtful i will. Oddly, my Verizon Hot Spot connection varies widely from day...

Answer my question about modems (recommended modems)?

Rural Arkansas is my location. This new CenturyTel modem made enough difference, that i wonder if perhaps an even better modem might do even better. I may try one to see.

Answer my question about modems (recommended modems)?

I live far enough outside of town that the landline phone internet by CenturyTel (called Extended DSL) has always been super slow. I have been using Verizon HotSpot for my trading internet and sometimes it too is unbearably slow, but most times can make do. Recently CenturyTel upgraded the...

Which indicators measure how parabolic something is pretty well?

Most likely you will have experimented, but i find the default settings of ParabolicSAR indicator more useful on 2 minute and 3 minute charts (also 5 min) than i do on 1 minute. My favored approach is to sell if price dips below SMA 10 on a 1 minute chart.

Question for ThinkOrSwim Users ... is it me or does TOS bid lag Ameritrade Quote bid?

Ram increase did seem to help this morning. It's 12:52 eastern and at the moment Ameritrade (not TOS) quotes are frozen as is their SP500, DJIA and NASDAQ ticker. Been that way at least 10 minutes, maybe longer, as i took a lunch break.
