Interactive Brokers now restricting use of practice and live account at once

I noticed this too this week and I spoke to IB about this. Apparently the only solution to the datafeed problem is to create a new user in your account. Therefore you have a new login and password, it can still be yourself and they allow that. However, you will have to pay for the additional...

    ib commission

depends on your size, if you trade about 100 shares or less then yes it is, if you primarily use limit orders and wait to get hit, then yes it is cheaper as well, there is no harm in trying it out for a few days, it takes 24 to 48 hours to initiate, and you can see your exact commission cost in...

    Importing Data into Excel/OpenOffice

you can do anything you want using excel's macros. It uses a program called Visual basic. Basically what you said isn't hard to do but you need a site to scrape that data off. The hardest out of those you listed is the lowest price between those times. The rest is easy peasy because you can...

Did we see a short squeeze in the first 20 mins of SPY/ES action? I have a feeling a lot of people sold short the open because of the quake.

When to sell 'expensive' growth stocks when the business is doing great

You could always hold a quarter of the position and put a trailing stop of like 25% or whatever you deem is the better % number. Ie if a stock is curently 40 dollars, set a $10 trailing stop and don't touch it. I'm sure its easier said then done.

    iPad for trading

I believe earth does gain a few hundred tons a day from space debris/dust. But then again there might be some loss of mass through atmosphere gas leakage. Perhaps the sun has influence on mass too?

    Groupon rejects Google's $6b offer

I saw an ad for a very similar coupon website. The ad looked just like groupon, but was called wagjag.com. Seems to me that it is a very easy business model to copy. Whether or not they made a mistake not taking google offer, i think it's too early to tell.

    Trends in random data

I totally agree. This in my opinion is probably one of the major reasons why TA works in many instances. I believe statistically speaking the probability of a certain event occurring like a bounce of a trendline or a retest of the highs, like in the example above, can be influenced by everyone...
