    Jokes

While most of you non-native speakers of English speak English quite well, there is always room for improvement (of course, the same could be said for every person for any subject, but that is another matter). To that end, I'd like to offer you a poem. Once you've learned to correctly...

    Esignal really out doing themselves

EFS is a nightmare to figure out at first due to the lack of consistent examples and inadequate documentation, but it is certainly powerful enough to create complete automated trading systems from, or any indicator or study that you care to think of. I have come across one problem though - You...

THE THEORY OF PURRPETUAL MOTION Question: if you buttered the back of a cat, which way down would it land? Law 1: The Laws of Butterology demand that the butter must hit the ground. Law 2: The equally strict Laws of Feline Aerodynamics demand that the cat cannot smash its furry back -...

    eSignal 7.2 & eSignalCentral.

The formula wizard seems to be putting out syntax errors. In this latest instant, it's asking for a ; before a statement, where normally there wouldn't be one. If you insert it, it still asks for it like it doesn't recognise that you've added it. I've had these problems on all 5 of the...

    Using Margin for More Positions

Because if 70/100 trades according to your strategy will be profitable, and the 30 un-profitable ones came first, then you would be wiped out. That needs to be figured in... What is the probability of that happening? :) Balancing out the risk... Natalie

    Using Margin for More Positions

You are talking about taking 20 positions each of 10k (leveraged using the margin). That makes 200k total. each with the 5% risk Natalie

    Using Margin for More Positions

If I'm reading this right - it looks like you would have your risk at 1/2% of 200k (instead of 100k) which is 1% of 100k if not - ignore me :) Natalie p.s. you weren't kidding when you promissed a flood :D

Money management on an automated strategy

Thank you - yes that does help - I can see the relationships in the numbers too so it's easy enough to code. Natalie p.s. I'm not even looking at anything that doesn't come in at 70% 2:1 or better :)

Money management on an automated strategy

I already need to insert code that obtains account information anyway and sizing code too, so it's easy enough to add just a few extra lines for variable sizing. But yes - I agree. 99% of the effort is on the strategies themselves. This is just an afterthought... And yes - sizing according to...

Money management on an automated strategy

Yes Inandlong, that's pretty simple statements. You are right about the doubling effect too, but the idea is to leave room to draw the surpluses out of that strategy and divert money later to other strategies and do the same again with others, so the effect would not be quite the equity curve...

Money management on an automated strategy

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I'm designing automated trading strategies at the moment. They're getting close to the test stage before any money is put beind them. Principally they are designed for the mini's, and that is where I am starting with this. The money and size...
