A real trader posting real trades to benefit newcomers.

Have you tried trading half size QMX8 contract. Volume is ok and it is arbed to CLX8. Crude can easily move $2.50 either way on news.

A real trader posting real trades to benefit newcomers.

I think yc47ib's method is actually quite good. He is in effect using a fade recent few day extrema type system that is good in range bound markets. His adjustments are pretty good and going long into Trump's tariff Monday evening sell off was also pretty good in retrospect since the markets...

Challenge of Weekly Profit trading Futures

You are getting crude direction wrong. With CL your system needs to get weekly trade direction right from the Tues. 4:30PM EDT API and Wed. 10:30AM EIA reports. Your system is shorting against very bullish crude supply drawdowns.

IB TWS on Linux on a Chromebook

I run TWS on Linux (many types) with no problem. I am sure TWS will run on Chromebuntu. All that is needed is to install Oracle Java using the Linux RPM. Linux has very efficient paging compared to Windows old VAX VMS technology so the Linux top command says very little memory is needed. If...

Destriero's single-name vola journal (riskarb; atticus; et al)

Hey "destriero" I think you are sort of a scammer. I think I may have caused your "inversion" by entering a 2 lot 5.20 limit for your July 27/Aug. 3 1250 GOOGL put calendar trade. My order was never close to filling, but MMs seem to have moved the spread's bid ask around. The problem with...

Does anyone understand the IEX versus NASDAQ patent conflict

IEX is planning on listing companies so they were sued by NASDAQ exchange. The part I do not understand is that the legal action is for patent infringement. Isn't exchange behavior (algorithms?) regulated by the SEC? Here is a URL to one story...

Want to make 1k / month on 100k, selling options.

Watch this recent video by Dan Sheridan on what is wrong with collars. Also just sell option credit spreads where you receive $200 to $300 with max loss of $1000. Do the opposite of what Sosnoff of Tastytrade says and take your occassional $100 loss. If you trade iron condors and spreads...

Terrible SPX and RUT bid/ask spreads but ES spreads better

Has anyone noticed that SPX option spreads have gotten much worse? Spreads now even for options with volume seemingly of a few thousand will have a 1.00 to 1.20 bid/ask spread. Worse when an order is entered, the spread for the order will jump 1.00 or more away from the bid. I have only been...

    Wilder's DMI

The IB version of Wilders ADX/DMI is usually pretty good, but it was clueless about today's 10% (3.22 to 2.96) March NG futures fall. See IB hour chart with ADX/DMI indicator on the bottom. ADX did rise. DMI+ was low but constant. There was some DMI- but it was also constant. The Wilder...

Why no discussion of UBS, DB and HSBC spoofing fines?

I am surprised no one has posted any information on the US CFTC fines on spoofing. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-cftc-enforcement-exclusive/u-s-cftc-to-fine-ubs-deutsche-bank-hsbc-for-spoofing-manipulation-sources-idUSKBN1FF2YK Maybe because ET posters think they are about to solve...

Can Anyone explain how listing on Canada NEO exchange helps with 5 cent bid/ask spread

An out patient hospital company in Houston area just released this PR. HLTH is going to list on the Canadian NEO exchange I think to avoid a situation where its low priced $1.35 stock never moves. Here is the PR...

    AMZA

AMZA is a leveraged bet that midstream oil and gas MLP share prices rise. AMZA is very transparent because a spread sheet of all holding is published every day after market closes at: https://www.virtus.com/products/infracap-mlp-etf#shareclass.618/period.quarterly Scroll down to the download...

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

You are too hard on your self. Your quick reaction method is a good way to deal with markets that are random after significant news. For a stock like GME today I just sit frozen watching quotes fly by at a high rate.

Ask for help to expert in Pascal language

Pascal is supported. There is a good GNU Pascal that will run on any computer. Modern computer languages are terrible for skilled programmers because they are all based on the managers controlling serf coder (usually out sourcing) organizational model of classes that means no one has any idea...

    Switching to Linux from Win10

I use Linux (Centos because I have some custom applications that need the reliable Linux thread multicore parallelism and memory band width). I trade with TWS for Linux with no problem (need to install Oracle Java). Wine is obsolete. Best way to run Windows is with the Virtualbox VM program...

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

I do not think CBI fundamentals are so clear. Stock was originally down because it was thought they would need to pay a huge arwbitration award from nuclear reactor cost over runs, but CBI mostly won the arbitration. The possibility of bankruptcy efected their steel construction business and...

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

I wonder if there is a new pattern to replace the always up stock indices one. Thursday Aug. 10 ES 2475 to 2430. Friday Aug. 11 slightly up market. Monday Aug. 14 strong up market back to 2470s. Thurs. Aug 17 ES 2470 to 2425. Friday? Maybe I have become a clairvoyant.

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

I also think there is a good chance AMD share price will rise tomorrow. Mubadala announced Friday that it completed sale of 40 million shares (3.9% of outstanding shares). I think 40 million shares is enough to explain the 8 days in a row AMD has been down. I worry that GS is about to...

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

I was thinking of going short so from the responses I decided not to do anything. If I had gone short near market open, I would have been stopped out. EFII closed basically where it opened today. Problem with EFII long is that institutions need to dump shares on any kind of irregularity...

    The Super Terrific Happy Hour

Sorry to change the topic from taxes. Has anyone tried shorting a stock that cancelled (postponed) it earnings call. The company is non standard commercial printing company EFII. It filed a document after market close today with SEC postponing earnings release. What if stock is halted?
