    Saxotrader pros & cons

I am sure you are a very good honest trader Baruch (and I usually read your comments with interest) but think your replies on this thread leave something to be desired and are very naive. No one can be sure - that is one reason credit agencies like Moodys and Standard and Poors exist, to help...

    Saxotrader pros & cons

A syndicated loan does not make you an owner -why do you think it does? If Saxo was to go bust then Deutsche would probably lose its Eur10m but would have absolutely no obligation to lend any more funds or have any responsibility to one single Saxo customer. I wouls also point out that even if...

    Saxotrader pros & cons

I am sure you are right but I feel I should comment on a couple of your points. On what basis do you say Deutsche are a part owner? I know there is a dealing relationship but not sure there is any ownership. Indeed there is no mention of this on Saxo's own website. Indeed They state that 85%...

    Saxotrader pros & cons

Saxo may be the only retail place in Denmark but it isn't the only trading bank. I have dealt with Den Danske for years. The guy who sits next to me has an account with Saxo but rarely uses them anymore due to their practices. Due to his experiences I would not open an account with them...

    IB or OANDA?

Thanks for that. I only really trade euro/$ and cable. I actually have an IB account for futures as do a bit of strat stuff from time to time in interest rates. I am monitoring their prices on fx. The main issue seems to be the lack of size - usually the quotes are in 2 or 3m only. I havent yet...

    IB or OANDA?

What is Oanda like over figures and when it is volatile - is there always a 2 way dealable price on auto ? What is the widest they quote euro dollar for example over say the NFP's at one extreme and say figures like retail sales, trade nos CPI etc.

Anyone have two accounts and do regular hedging?

I am afraid this technique is madness unless you have guaranteed stops. When the likes of FXCM offered guaranteed stops then it was a very profitbale risk free strategy if adopted just before major figures when you expected markets to gap one or two big figures. They realised that it was...

Decent Brokers during High Market Volatility

I understood the only bank really supporting the price was Bear Stearns? Is that wrong?

    fxsol vs oanda

This isnt true though. Say you get a 2 pips spread on euro dollar - most brokers will either be getting hit on their side of the spread or could hedge it with a bank, who typically quote 1 pip spreads. Therefore you can both win.

    fxsol vs oanda

There is nothing wrong with trading against the house, everyone can still win. People should try and get that out of their heads. The problem is some brokers are not honest and so they should be avoided like the plague.

    Currenex via FXCM

This again is wrong. A Prime brokergae account is not as grand as it sounds and to trade through any of the ECNs it is required and is fairly easy to set one up, providing you do reasonable size. In the UK RBS seems the best bank to use.

    Currenex via FXCM

False. Although you have to also have an arrangement with a Prime Broker, through which you will effectively clear through.

    IB new forex spreads

I have used IB for Euribor and short sterling futures for the past couple of years and they are fine for that. However their customer service is pants - based in Switzerland and trying to get a quick answer on the phone is very difficult st times. As you would be dealing with them rather than...

    IB new forex spreads

Thanks. When it gets volatile and over numbers what is the spread typically in the euro dollar? Is it an automated system or does he trade have to be manually accepted? If you say hit a bid at 1.3259 and it has moved by the time IB had received the request is the best bid shown or is the...

    IB new forex spreads

Are IB broking this service against the CME future or are they market making? Is brokergae paid - if so how much ? Do you trade lots or is it a base currency amount?

    Lava fx

Cheers for all the replies. I deal in the name of a company but in effect it is my own money. The minimum is nowhere near 10m. I will not use it for less than 1m though

    Lava fx

Thanks for your input. Was aware of the requirements and one of my current price providers is Hotspot FXi. Want another and it is a toss up between Currenex and Lava but know very little about the latter. Obtaining a prime broker is not an issue or a problem.

Has anyone got any views on them, good or bad?

    Anybody trading currencies?

It is not 30k DKR it is in fact 300k DKR (about 40k euros). Still less than my initial estimate but I didnt bother to look it up before - apologies! For securities it is half that -at least it is some protection though. At no stage did I say Saxo was a great place to deal etc and the only...
