Advice required regarding automated trading from home / office

and some of us on here are workin' together (loosely). You just gotta be able to identify who's a loser, etc., which shouldn't be too hard... (as a last resort!)

Advice required regarding automated trading from home / office

Like others posted, you shouldn't have ANY problem hooking up with a group of traders, maybe not system traders, but maybe some of them are too. I started with automated too and now I'm working online with a group of guys (discretionary). I find both styles bring something to the table and...

Issues installing SQL Server on a NAS

That's a lotta data nitro. Depending on the number of symbols and how exactly you're indexing the tables, you could have a bit of a problem with throughput. I wouldn't skimp on the storage solution in that case. Plus, yer lookin' at 2.5 TB in a year. That's a lot for SQL Server to handle...

    AHG v2.0

Jahagee, we discussed this before, I showed you a screenshot of my system (anyone else can search on my name). The only way I was able to get it modestly profitable was with the standard money management algorithms I use on everything. In other words, AS I HAVE PROGRAMMED IT it doesn't work...

Issues installing SQL Server on a NAS

Oh, and ALL of our servers are using I think two filers: email, users' home directories, Citrix terminals, about a hundred SQL Server databases... So if you wanna go with NetApps you won't be makin' a mistake. My 2 cents

Issues installing SQL Server on a NAS

nitro, we're runnin' Server 2003 on Compaq or Dell e.g. Proliant DL585 or Dell 6850s. we are usin' NetApps filer 30501 or equivalent runnin' yeah, just over the LAN (are we bad or what)? (We gotta plan to migrate to dedicated network, but so far haven't done it) It takes a LOT of abuse, we...

    AHG v2.0

kiwi, ditto here, I'm still working on it, but so far my automated strategies based on price action are only VERY marginally profitable. I'm not sure yet if it's possible. Been sim trading AHG discretionary and it's SO easy to "read" what's going on in real time, and SO hard translating that...

Issues installing SQL Server on a NAS

nitro, I'm a little late responding but there's nothing wrong with running SQL Server on a NAS, we do it at work. Not sure what your concerns are... "Speed" and "latency" are really non-issues too, if you're running 1G ethernet or better. Go for it!

    NON-INDICATOR (indicator-less) Trading

Oh, gotcha. I'm getting the HH/HL from the "Swing" indicator which looks for the highest high in the last ten bars (configurable). Yes, it does mark a few bars that I would probably not consider when I'm looking at the chart, but they are pretty much legitimate highs. The important thing is...

    NON-INDICATOR (indicator-less) Trading

#1 - Trend is defined as HH - HL - HH - HL (or reverse). Entry signal is 3BR after the last HL (not ideal, but the best I could come up with so far). Exit signal is failure to make HH/HL or predefined stopLoss/profitTargets (again, tests better). #2, 3 - Timeframe was 1-minute bars. I also...

    NON-INDICATOR (indicator-less) Trading

LOL! Don't let me stop you! It's quite likely your strategy would be very different. I was hoping to compare your performance to mine to get an idea why mine doesn't perform as well as I would hope. To my understanding this strategy should be similar to Price Action trading a la AHG, and so...

    NON-INDICATOR (indicator-less) Trading

Jahajee, I've been working on the same exact strategy for a couple of weeks. In backtesting it does not seem to be particularly profitable. I attach my performance report for ESZ8 as well as backtest of the other contracts I have available. As you can see, ESZ8 did okay, but the...

A truck driver analysis to the ES

Sorry to hear about the slander -- that's just the way some people are, they can't stand to see someone succeed. I've been (slowly) digesting AHG and really appreciate the update given in your chart analysis. I gathered from the thread the group was moving more toward support/resistance --...
