    IB new forex spreads

There are no guaranteed stops ever, regardless of what the advertisements say. Brokers with guaranteed stop goes broke when people start straddling news announcements. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51116

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Best available to retail and pros? Didn't you tell us Ideal Pro was meant to cater for those trading 250k sized lots? XD

There are no guaranteed Stops. EVER.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that any broker who guarantees stop losses will go out of business. Yes they do advertise guaranteed stops. But your stops are only guaranteed in situations when there wouldn't be any stop loss slippage in the first plac.e Some brokers/fans...

    We've all heard this before...

Let me shorten your learning curve considerably. 1. Put your $30k in the bank. Withdraw $2k to punt with. If you lose $500-1000k quit and review your plan. 2. Don't get stuck thinking its easy to make 10 cents per share off a position everyday. The hard part is how you plan to retain that...

    I like Oanda but...

Oanda used to be good. But I stopped using them because for years they simply REFUSED to update their platform or service!! How many times over the past few years have we asked for a simple 10/15min charting? Until today Oanda simple REFUSED to give us 10/15min charts. And they still...

    I like Oanda but...

No. If we're seriously managing an account of say $100k or $1mil then yes 50:1 is beyond enough. But for the vast majority who wants to punt (a.k.a. gamble) with a little pot, we need 400:1 damn it. XD I want to gamble!!!! Give me mucho leverage!!! Btw, I'm serious. Because gambling...

    IB new forex spreads

Thanks a lot. Great service. I guess that means during US/European hours its also 1 pip, sometimes 2 pips? With the lowering of comms and tightening of spreads, IB's spotfx seems to be the preferred choice over oanda, refco etc which are unreliable and have a platform thats severely...

Are your strategies safe from your broker?

Actually, almost everyone has superior comms compared to IB. IB's rates are higher but they have a free API, allow trading all instruments in one account and cheap data. I still wish I have lower comms though. :p

    IB new forex spreads

It has been a while since i checked ET forums, what are the spreads like for EUR? Tight 1 or fluctuate between 1-2?

Are your strategies safe from your broker?

For a brokerage having say 10,000 clients. If at least 10 of them are consistently profitable, wouldn't it be a bit tempting to mimick their strategy? I mean, they got records of everything from entries, exits, position sizing to stop losses. Wouldn't it be easy to figure out the...

    IB new forex spreads

The minimum $10 RT comms still kill anyone who doesn't want to do 250k lot or bigger. (25k lots, 1 pip = $2.50, $10 comms = 4 pips cost T_T)

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

Realistically speaking, if u have a very well defined edge which has undergone massive backtesting and tweaking plus u have been trading the edge for the past 1 year is it possible to turn $5000 into $100,000 in 1-2 years? To make $100,000 trading 3 contracts on the ES in 2 years u'll need to...

College grad w/ job offer and questions

misctrader, It would be very useful for all the new (and old) guys if u recite your experiences during the 3/4 years when u were trading for a living. For example, how much capital u started with? What styles u tried? (scalp? tf?) How did u "fail"? (lost $? didn't found an edge?) During...

    Pyramiding into a trend

Yes...pyramiding dampens the win percentage because some of the pyramided contracts/lots will turn into losers and drag down the original trade. Yet those that remain winners will have their win size improved to a large extend. I would harzard a guess that the longer the trend that are...

    Consistently Profitable Day Traders

Hi, It would be most useful if you can provide a little info on your: -Starting capital -Size of each trade (no. of shares) -Frequency of trading -Timeframe (intraday short term scalping or hourly chart swing trading etc) -Size of drawdown I thank u on behalf of the little guys out...

    Consistently Profitable Day Traders

But some says trading is "simple" in the sense that as long as one have systems/rules with an edge and follow them with maximum discipline one would be consistently profitable. What is your view on this?

    Pyramiding into a trend

One problem arises : Will the trade pyramided onto the original trade turn into a loser? I have spent some time studying pyramiding and realise that the result of pyramiding isn't as straight forward as adding to the expectancy of a system. It in fact, warps the characteristics...
