    Reuters new Bloomberg-alternative Product

i believe they have 2 year contract. the reason they don't (and prob won't) go to month to month is obvious - stability and predictability of revs.

    AFAIK, regular unleaded.

    Options on the ES

to the OP, it depends how you want to hedge since you mentioned using futs as well. i prefer options due to the asymmetric risk/reward. ES has less liquidity, wider spreads vs spy but you can trade round the clock. you could trade spx options and save money on commish b/c the car size is 10x...

    Peplink Dual-Wan Router

    anyone seen this... http://www.amazon.com/Duolinks-SW24-2PORT-Balancing-Router/dp/B0012ZQ0GA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1314612949&sr=8-3

    Reuters new Bloomberg-alternative Product

although i don't use it from what i've read/heard it's inferior to bbg and the costs can really add up. w/ bbg you pay one (albeit high) monthly fee that covers everything you will ever need but w/ reuters you have a base fee then you have to add in every package you want which makes it just as...

    Using options for hedging purposes

not to be the bearer of bad news so early but if you're not willing to spend 3% protecting your port from catastrophic decline then just take the risk. see recs from above poster re collaring. insuring anything costs money, period. there is no way around it.

    Trading Chairs

i don't want to start a war on the interweb about chairs of all things but i don't think anyone on here except the one poster would ever consider using a big ball to sit on (please don't make any jokes - they're too easy for us ET'ers:D ). a lot of us spend 12 hours or more sitting in a chair...

Best Firm For Large Option Orders

per side. for example, you could have (and many large individual/institutions did) enter an order to buy 10k contracts of xyz and it would only cost 10. to exit it would cost 10.

Best Firm For Large Option Orders

i don't think it matters. everyone loved OH when they had the unlimited cars for $10 but the deal turned out to be too good for their customers so they got rid of it. i doubt OH's execution is any better than TOS' or IB's even though they have peak6 support. anyone confirm or deny this with...

Best Firm For Large Option Orders

+1. this is why major institutions do transaction cost analysis (TCA) to measure EVERY cost - not just the obvious (and sometimes smallest) one.

    When to Use Discretion

Actually TF does work on stocks and requires no discretion. Click on the pdf file on the website below. I didn't attach the actual file b/c I know a lot of us are suspicious of attached files. Happy reading. BTW related to the below study they didn't apply the study to shorting for a few...

    When to Use Discretion

+1. read up on the turtles and other trend followers that are 100% pure systematic. some of them used discretion and missed out on the one or two big moves that would have made their year.

    Sue online broker for negligence

+1 to everyone who said you're screwed. for some value added advice for everyone else for the future, if you know that your current broker is changing clearing firms or doing anything that could effect your ability to trade i suggest you go to cash so what happened to the op doesn't happen to...

    SICKEST trading office environment EVER!

the hardware is impressive for m&n but the natural light from the side windows would make it almost impossible to see. maybe it's just me but i prefer an dark environment. i'm currently contracted w/ a major developer to build a trading room for my firm but here is a pic of our current...

    Best way to hedge

run the stocks thru an analyzer and see what the weighted beta is and calc the number of ES cars you need to hedge. use the NQ if they're tech stocks. or just bought calls 2-3% OTM. the expiry depends on how long you want to hedge obviously.

    Which one..

if you do that many cars in ONE DAY then you can get pretty much any deal you want for commission. did you mean to say one month? institutions might do that many in a month but that's a month and it's an institution with much more assets than an individual trader. you get a huge price break...

    Pictures of your trading stations

lol. the first time i tried to attach a pic my gf told me "umm drawing a pic of a monitor and scotch taping it to the monitor isn't how you attach a file".

    Tick trading

i guess you're looking for a response to the "sub 10 ticks" post? re that IMO that's too short a timeframe. i'd stick with 200 ticks as a minimum for a high volume instrument like ES/6E. i agree w/ other posters that you should trade on a higher timeframe to capture a bigger move/less...

    Tick trading

i discovered tick charts a few years ago and haven't looked back for intraday trading. by looking at time charts (1 min example) you miss all the action that goes on during that 1 min which can be alot esp during high volatility times (crashes, econ releases, etc). just experiment with the...

What are some good educational resources for a beginner?

+1. If you can find a repeatable edge on the UL, using options is relatively easy. it's when people don't have an edge they lose money trading options (trust me i know from experience).
