JJ, I assume you won't consider the 10:10a bar a "continuation sell" signal because you have your pivot trend in a bull move, correct?

JJ, I agree with you. I, too, like a process of consistent med/small wins. I appreciate the sharing of your approach. I hope you don't mind my sharing a pure pivot point trading strategy mixed in with money management.

    Trading the Pivots

I understand what you are saying, but as we watch these pivot points over the next few months, I think you'll be amazed at how "strong" the market looks at an R1/S1 R2/S2 level and turns around for a 5-10 point move. Money management is the key on the "fading the trend" signals at the...

Tried a short at 1303.50, but after 10 minutes, i bailed at break-even. I'm going to stand aside for a bit.

I took one off your continuation pattern buys @ 1301.50 (12:10pm) Bailed at 1302.75, was just looking for 1 more new high. Not a great risk/reward, but I like to scalp during the day. Let's see how the mkt reacts at 1303.75, R1.

Are you using only data from day session or all data? This chart looks like day session only.

    Trading the Pivots

JJ, There were two pretty clear continuation buy signals today (if I'm reading these correctly). 10:40a (a second at 11:30) and 13:45p One chart that I use to help give me confidence when using some kind of continuation signal is a chart of the $ndx-$spx. This is a spread of the nas...

    Trading the Pivots

I shorted and bailed at break-even 1288/1288. Reasons: 2756 advancing stocks Nas is almost twice as strong as the spu's. It is almost always best to be trading in the direction of the Nas, it usually leads. Trin is at a low .62 While I may be wrong getting out of this at...

    Trading the Pivots

No, that would be a recipe for disaster. lol That 4.25 is my maximum stop loss. Once we hit +2.00, my options are: 1) Move stop to break even (always) for a free trade. 2) Bail on all, half, or none of the position. 3) For any of the position that remains, use a stop of 2 ticks...

    Trading the Pivots

I'm going to try to get short at 88.00 with a stop at 92.25. 88.25 is R2 AND last weeks high. We should at least get a pull back of 2 points from that area.

    Trading the Pivots

Using the above stratgey would have resulted in at least a 9 point day. Oh well, we seem to hit the R2/S2 level about once per week. There's always another trade coming round the corner. lol

    Trading the Pivots

I need to give those R2's and S2's a little more credit. I haven't back tested, but some of my best trades have been to simply sell/buy the R2/S2 using a 4 point stop and exiting at eod or trail 2 ticks above/below the 30 minute bar.

    Trading the Pivots

Bailed at 81.50, as I didn't care about waiting around for another .50, so I'll take the 1.50 per contract.

    Trading the Pivots

Going to trail stop at this point to 2 ticks above previous 5 minute bar, which is 82.75 for now for a break-even trade after commissions. I will still keep target at 2 pts.
