what you are experiencing is a very common problem with TS during high tick volume. my guess is that you, also, had some e-mini charts up around the fomc release. this resulted in a huge barrage of ticks hitting your charts at once, thus the freeze. there are at least 5 topics on this forum...

okay, since cfc closed at 15.52 on oct. 31st and we are now up 33% on the short just since fading your comment on Nov. 1st, i'll take that as a "stay short", although i do have a buy stop in, to lock in my tidy profit. thank you, sir.

The advice you are giving regarding converting an IRA back to a regular account is beyond horrible. This is a great example of why getting or taking advice from internet forums can be a "train wreck".

just to update: 1) Went back to 8.2 2) Took matrix order entry off Yesterday during high tick period (last 30 minutes), I did not have a freeze. Seeing the above reference in the TS forums regarding "matrix" order entry, I have concluded that both 8.3 and using "matrix" is a cpu...

suriNotes, What you have demonstrated is all very true. 1) IF you don't need your indicators to update intra-bar. 2) IF you do your order entry from a seperate cpu. When I started this thread it was basically a warning to e-mini traders that TS is not the place to actively trade...

That's an interesting suggestion, I don't understand why it would matter, but I will try it.

For anyone considering using TS for e-mini trading, I urge you to take a look at the TS forums area and do a search with the word "freeze". Just seeing the number of topics is scary let alone the number of responses in each topic, but it will give you a feel for what others are experiencing...

Yea, I thought CPU usage, too, but here's what I see. 1) CPU usage modulates between 50%-70%. 2) When ticks are blowing in like a hurricane, TS freezes and CPU usage stays in the same range. 3) Remember, I'm talking about monitoring ER2, ES, YM, and NQ...not stocks. The tick changes on...
