Putting the pieces together... attention JHM! ;-)

My job brought me to Vegas. Any PEP traders here this week?

Putting the pieces together... attention JHM! ;-)

Allright... I think I'm close(r) to understanding how to use the volume log. The reason why I failed the first time is that a) I didn't have explanations/descriptions/understanding of the components b) There were no clear instructions how to use it and c) I didn't understand it anyway...

OMG... I promised myself to now focus on SCT not PVT. Instead I find myself reading through "New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems." by Welles Wider. Background reading for IAS automation: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?postid=3720450#post3720450

Jack Hershey in trading vs Srinivasa Ramanujan in mathematics

:D After putting in some time and effort it is amazing how suddenly this PVT "One pager" which in the past was just a useless graphic makes absolutely sense. The rules for PVT are all here. There is also Spyder's Wealthlab code which you could analyse and some Excel workbooks with VB...

Jack Hershey in trading vs Srinivasa Ramanujan in mathematics

If you really wanted to know about his "books" then you will find here (on ET) a post by somebody who had found Jack's books through a specific search engine for scientific publications. Not via Amazon. They (seem to) exist. But why would you if you are not interested in environmental issues...

Putting the pieces together... attention JHM! ;-)

After reading some of the recommended documents I "feel confident" that I understand PVT to a degree that would allow me to get started. I will put the "Boolean algebra" thread on hold for the time being and continue my original quest trying to understand "quickies", "EEs", "volume elements"...

Rocket scientist want to move to the financial industry: How to?

;-) You are not satisfied in your current job. Why would you look for another one where somebody else tells you again what to do? Read Jack's stuff about PVT, SCT, PEP, whatever. PVT... using Jack's words "...is a part time job...". Build the capital you require in a few month then say...

Nice try to place a subliminal invitation for action :) It is not that I don't want to "become inclined to get set up to trade" but there is also another inclination which asks me: First understand what you are doing and why before you even think about a trade using PVT. Found it...

Some more questions: 1. What are the tomato plants? 2. What are the three spaces? 3. "D to A begins, then a little A to D, then the last D to A". Are you saying this happens from 7 to 6 to 5 to 4? Or from 0->7->6->5->4->3->2->1-0-> and then another 7->6->5->4? 4. Which values to you...

Some questions: 1. How do you make the A/D scoring asymmetric? 2. I see a function called "Accumulation Distribution". Do I have to use that one and then do a calculation like: IF today's AD value > yesterdays AD value THEN AD = 1 ELSE AD = 0 3. What are "money making velocities"? 4. How...

Jack, you mentioned once that the automatic calculation of the IAS and as a result the Rank of a stock, involved multiple pages of math formulas. I am not a math geek therefore I wonder how I can reproduce what you did and calculate the Rank?

Here is the translation in case somebody wondered what he means by "...long to short scores..." and "...short to long score...":

I sorted my "float" issue. Then the first discrepancy starts with the price range. I listed the other formulas I use and I can see that somehow the biggest difference comes from the RS criteria.

How can I download or reproduce that filter? Next steps: 1. Those 95 stocks need to get a PVAD score. 2. DU, FRV and PKG need to be calculated. 3. Stocks with a PVAD score of 0 AND volume < DU need to be ranked 4. Those stocks with highest ranks go to a hotlist 5. Stocks in hotlist...

Thanks Paddler, but that doesn't seem to change anything. The Genesis RS criteria seems to work differently than the one from IBD or stocktables. It can not be used as a useful filter.

My first reaction was: WHAT!!!???? Why the heck did I then do the IAS!?? But upon further reflection I think what you are saying is: If I had more stocks in my list that are in DU only THEN all the ranking through the IAS becomes important/interesting because only then one needs to decide in...
