The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

OK, Nkhoi, I promised you profun-ditty. Here goes. Today's attachment vs. the previous one demonstrates the link between communication bandwidth and perceived sensuality (radio vs. telephone). This phenomenon is familiar in our time. A video is more exciting that a still shot. An rm is better...

The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

Nkhoi, you know I am going somewhere profound with this. Kindly willingly suspend disbelief, and you will be rewarded. If you didn't like my posts, you all could long since have ganged up on me and tossed me out. Fortunately for me, Jack is somewhere ahead of me on the list of obnoxiousness.

    The Mentor's Dilemma

So, my absurd examples aside, it should be patently obvious that ANY profitable trading system has such an enormous net present value that only a fool would sell it, much less reveal it for free on ET. Suppose there were such a fool. What would happen? A deep-pockets third party would either...

The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

With my last post of 20's light smut, I made the point that traders of the time came to associate sex with technology (recall the young lady caressing the vacuum cleaner lovingly, a tool in the service of mankind which miraculously both sucks and blows). Smutographers of the time, being...

    The Mentor's Dilemma

Thank you all for the advice. I will back off my profit expectations to only $20 a day. I had been trying to make more money only because ET always made fun of my blotters. Then in 834 trading days I will only be trading 2255 contracts and be worth a more modest $4.6M. Given such an NPV, maybe I...

    The Mentor's Dilemma

I may have spreadsheeted this wrong, but I calculate that making 50 bucks a day per contract (typical for me) and starting with one NQ contract, I will be trading 492 million contracts a day and be worth one trillion dollars in 834 trading days. So why should I give anything away on ET? And I'm...

I did my part. I hope you did , too. At any one time, I typically have two subscriptions running. Solely for academic research, of course!

The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

Now that we all understand, thanks to the Nazzdack, that smut leads trading, let us consider the next advancement in smut and how it influenced trading. Most of us are familiar with the life of legendary trader Jesse Livermore through the fictionalized account of his life as Larry Livingston...

The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

You got it in one, Nazzdack! I started to say what I think, but deception is so much more fun! Indeed pornography has supported the rise of every new technology medium: chipped stone, hewn rock, sculpted clay, painted board, canvas, photography, celluloid film, magnetic tape, internet, CDs...

The Entwined History of Trading and Smut

Please be assured that this thread is as academically serious as all of my posts. And that no attachment will offend any elementary school child who might wander here already familar with Viagra, Cialis, homosexuality, birth control and the meaning of the word fellatio (thanks to news about a...

    Codifying SCT

Joe is busy recoding what doesn't need recoding, and my first client isn't due for a while. The bottom study is a stoplight. Orange (I can't see yellow so good) is flat before the first entry and at the close, red is short, green is long. Always in after the opening trade on bar 1 until the end...

    Tara's Thread

Tara, thanks for providing a proper closeout to your insightful analysis of Jack's persuasion techniques. The cycle time for ET to almost completely turn over membership is about six months, then he'll be back. Good trading to you!

    Intraday INDU Signals

Just a suggestion. It was not at all cowardly to stand aside today. You might consider developing some measure of wide- versus narrow-range days.

    Intraday INDU Signals

Keep in mind that the volume in YM is much lower than in ES, with all the problems lower liquidity brings. And I believe the update rate on $DJX is slower than that of $SPX. No reason IMO to trade off of an index.

I suggest you include the time axis the next time you post a chart. Trading is a spectator sport here, and we'd like to see it all. Thanks. The arena always needs fresh blood.

Agreed about channels. I generally don't draw them. Just a distraction. I am sure the B-Team tires of me saying it, but major S/R usually determine the reversals in which Jack sees channels. If you have those, you don't need to draw channels. If, like them, you don't, channels lead to a confused...
