High Oil Prices, Commodity Prices, Emerging Market Prices....The Cause

I agree with you somewhat, but this is something that needs to be done slowly or you'll see more and worse storms than what we've had. I had a conversation with someone on one of the message boards for moms that I'm on. She was consistently saying that the government needs to clean things up...

How Do We Nail the Bottom?

Are you all talking a bottom for years or a bottom for months? I have a hard time taking the "for years" view, but I guess it really doesn't matter, just don't let your grip on whatever you buy get too tight and remain nimble.

Is The Giant Sell Order Gone?

Yep, it was gone, and that was nice!

Official Thread For The Obama Rally!

Everyone was tired of us going down so we went up? Besides, it makes for much more fanfare when it falters next time, and Obama gets to have his "change" because people are increasingly convinced the world really is messed up after all.

Trading the Nikkei with the NKD

Hmmm, I thought the mini Nikkei was more/tick, that's the one on the Singapore exchange right? I need to take a look again. I think the feed's even free for that one from IB, but the fee for feeds from Japan is pretty negligible anyway.

Trading the Nikkei with the NKD

Who do you trade with? IB has access to the futures on the exchanges in Japan and Singapore. Each of them has too big of a multiple for the underlying for me, though, hate to risk too much per tick when I'm just getting used to an instrument. You could also trade the yen (with the USD pair...

Trading the Nikkei with the NKD

I've had it up on my screen the past couple of hours and it hasn't moved, no bids, no asks. I guess maybe it doesn't trade much. I'm disappointed.

SO lets hear some ideas... Where do you put your money?

Don't know where in a little apartment, but most of ours fits in a closet and extra water on shelves in the garage. We'd really rather make our way to my grandparents' 90-acres if we could in an emergency where food was scarce for a long time, but like I said, a rotating food supply doesn't...

SO lets hear some ideas... Where do you put your money?

There's an ETF by Barclays that has all the currencies pegged to the dollar in it. Since most of them are strong currencies whose countries are holding them down, the idea is that the countries will want to cut them loose from the dollar if the dollar sinks. There isn't really downside, except...

Trading the Nikkei with the NKD

Anyone trading the NKD futures contract offered by CME? How are the spreads and volume? What's the amount of contracts I could expect to trade with collapsing the bid or ask?

    Fallout

Have you guys watched Nicolas Sarkozy on CSPAN at all? It gives me the chills a little when he talks about getting speculators out of the market. He just seems really really pissed about it.

'Foreclosure King' Says Rent Now, and Buy In 2010

He's just afraid he'll run out of buyers by then, might as well start pumping now :D

Mark Cuban pushes for 20 cents per share tax on every roundtrip.

Isn't 10 points in the ES scalping these days anyway?? :p

Mark Cuban pushes for 20 cents per share tax on every roundtrip.

Guys, rebuttal brings up some of the best points sometimes. Plus, it's kind of fun to pull people's strings. GermanTrader said he didn't scalp, I was bringing up that that is all he does, in fact. He was stirring up the pot to see if anyone would add anything constructive by him doing it...

No question, sorry I messed up the pot stirring. I remember now you getting bored last Monday, too :p

Mark Cuban pushes for 20 cents per share tax on every roundtrip.

 GermanTrader? Just trying to get things stirred up around here? Quote from you on 9/9 from another thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=2059910&highlight=scalp#post2059910 Disagree. I began trading two contracts of eminis with $1,500 and would do...

Dollar Regains Haven Status as Deutsche Bank Says Buy

It'll be buy, buy, buy for a while longer I think. Maybe about 5 or 6 months until it become clear neither the economy nor the ever increasing government spending is going to support us paying our debt back, then China will finally have had the last straw and it'll finally be time for us to pay...

    The Fall Of Chavez

Yes, I agree. Much of the answer lies in being smaller. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that the dangers of smaller (lots of skirmishes between each other if we had a lot of smaller countries) are less than the dangers of consolidation (the cycles get broken; when things consolidate to...

    The Fall Of Chavez

libertad, how do you propose to eliminate a 2- or 3-party system? I agree it sucks, but I think it exists because the masses in large part need things simplified for them. Partly because they're stupid, partly because they're busy with no time to delve deep into what a candidate is about...

Any reason we're not going limit down again?

PPT learned from last time that it's easier to avert panic by having someone stay up overnight rather than waiting until the last moment when they see the limit down and think "oh sh*t"? Just a guess. OK, so maybe not, but it is a possibility.
