    Combo Order question

Hi, Can anyone explain what happens to a combo order when you put an order in between the bid and the ask? Is it treated the same as a single strike order or is it handled differently? What are the rules for who gets preference on regular option orders and combo orders? Thanks.

    Trader P/L 2012

This is where you are mistaken. 50K is not a big loss to many people. You just don't know any. As a matter of fact 2K is a much bigger loss and has more severe psychological consequences to some people than does 50K to others.

    Can GNMA MBS default?

Hi, I have some friends who believe that it is just a matter of time until the GNMA funds default. Is this a real possibility? If so, what might occur to bring that about. Also, is there a set pool of capital set aside to pay interest and principal on GNMA backed mortgages and if so, can...

Market order vs. Limit order for scalping

This question can't be answered effectively without more information regarding your trading style. Most scalping of highly liquid fast moving products would require orders that are essentially market orders. (That could be a limit order that is far enough in the money so as to actually be a...

Best representation of CL in stocks ?

Yes, USO is better if you only want oil. I misread your question and thought you wanted a mix of equities and oil. Sorry.

Best representation of CL in stocks ?

Take a look at OIH. Sort of a combination of Oil and S&P 500.

Trading vs Playing poker, will it help with my trading?

Absolutely. The prime correlation being money management skills. Also relevant are the ability to identify an edge and the discipline required to be successful at card counting.

Trading vs Playing poker, will it help with my trading?

I think it is possible that you are a successful trader for a large firm following their formula. It is clear from this quote that you don't understand long term winning poker. Almost no top poker pros who have been around for years knowingly take risks large enough to result in ruin. This...

How much money have you lost before figuring it out???

I think knowing where to look is very important, and often comes from trial and error with a bit of luck. But knowing how to look saves you a lot of time once you stumble upon where to look.

Do you leave your trading behind for the day?

I think about trading a lot because I enjoy it. About an hour after the market closes, I am generally thinking about other things and have no problem leaving trading behind. Since I am very focused on trading during market hours, I have generally had enough of it by the time the market closes...

Trading vs Playing poker, will it help with my trading?

If you think poker is gambling for all players, you don't understand poker at all. Either one can be a skilled game or gambling depending upon who is making the bets.

    Acronis

This is a good point, and I do have a solution for that situation. I do a periodic backup to DVD of all important data, and keep a copy offsite. If the worst happens and I have no workable mirror drive, I can rebuild the computer, install the operating system and drivers, and use the data...

    Acronis

A number of years ago, I tested and used Casper for disk cloning and it seemed to work very well. I suspect it is more stable and better coded than Acronis. Do you always keep your mirror disk attached? The reason I ask is because it is possible that you can encounter serious problems if two...

    Acronis

If you do not use RAID, the best solution by far is to just clone your drive to a mirror drive once a week. The use Acronis or some backup software to do incremental backups to DVD every night during the week. If your drive ever fails you can be back up and running in 15 minutes. This method...

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers

I am not sure what you think you are seeing with IB, but for daytrading stocks they are perfectly fine. If you look at the time and sales, you will see almost every trade. If you trade with them for a while and check your fills against the time and sales you will see that the info is almost spot...

    Lightspeed vs. Interactive Brokers

Which stocks are you daytrading and what timeframe are you using? And by tape, do you mean their market data feed? It is true that IB's data feed is not tick by tick but is updated every few milliseconds, but I'd be curious how that makes a difference to you.
