Noob Here About To Jump In

Try to learn/design the most basic of trading system/strategies. Here is a great place to start in My opinion: 1) Pick 75 stocks, and have that as your pool of stocks to trade 2) Choose the top 1 or 2 stocks that has the strongest trend, the most violent move up or down 3) get on board that...

Made a lot of progress, but feel like there's so much more to go...

This is exactly why I don't understand "ES only traders" or "CL only traders" I too trade about 10 different futures markets and only trade them when they get interesting.

If you could sort of occasionally call tops and bottoms, which position sizing style would you use?

Let me ask you a question if you don't mind. Let's say my entrance into SHORT GC at 1204 resulted in 2018's MFE of let's say 40 Points. But throughout the year what I have found in a 1 week time frame the MFE is roughly on average 7. I don't understand what the conclusion would ultimately...

ES... you just assigned me about 200 Hours of work :)

If you could sort of occasionally call tops and bottoms, which position sizing style would you use?

It just seems like there are so many variables to determining that optimum outcome. Volatility, trend months vs, etc. GC I was short this week from 1204, if I scaled slowly out, I would have missed out on massive gains that I took. It's so complex thats why I have not bothered taking the...

If you could sort of occasionally call tops and bottoms, which position sizing style would you use?

ES, thanks for the advice. I hand test everything, and spend about 20 hours a week doing so. I have not analyzed that.

If you could sort of occasionally call tops and bottoms, which position sizing style would you use?

scaling requires so much more decision making. We have a tendency to pull trades quickly, or at least most traders do. I prefer to have very few rules that will take me out of a trade early. I leave money on the table many times per month. But when the markets move... I take down large cuts...

If you could sort of occasionally call tops and bottoms, which position sizing style would you use?

Let's say on Nasdaq futures: I enter with a 20 handle stop loss ( I use wide stops ) Once position is up half my max risk 20/2 = 10, I then move my stop to Break even + 1. I then let it ride until my target is hit and take the whole position off. I don't scale out.

    RSI system

RSI is one of the few indicators I use. It is quite a good tool. Most just don't know how to use it. I've had 1 losing month in the past 14 months. ( I trade long/short futures, 10 different markets, RSI works great on all in my opinion, and I don't think I'm fooled by randomness, my returns...

GBP Futures - Slippage Question 10/6/2016

I'm not looking for an exact answer, but curious of any opinion...If Anyone Cares... 10/6/2016 Pound futures dropped heavy quickly. If I bought 100 Contracts at 1.2600, and had an automatic stop at 1.2570, what type of execution would I have been given? (any feedback is welcomed) 1 hour...

    Strategy - Indicators

All new traders want to trade intraday...It's super hard. If you can't trade on longer term charts, there is no way you can trade intraday. My two cents. It's far harder in the short term.

Awesome advice, so true. You need to understand how market move.

    ES vs NQ

I trade NQ's.... I like the volatility of it. ES is a bit slower and noisy in my opinion. 98% of the traders on ET will not have a "liquidity problem" with NQ.

What % of your P&L is going to commissions?

I would say through the course of a month, perhaps 0.5% of my account goes to commissions. Maybe a little less. I trade futures.

Too general..but best commodity to day trade

ES... slow moving and noisy. The faster something moves, the more technical it is and easier to trade in my opinion.

Too general..but best commodity to day trade

Bone, You talk latency in your post and the importance of the right infrastructure. I trade with limit order entrances and exits only. (IB is the broker) With that being said is the ultra obvious answer in my case, my latency and infrastructure does not really matter because my orders are...

    Do Markets Change?

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone to my original question. I did not think that many people would contribute. I'm convinced it really does not change. I've come to this conclusion because I trade the same in Natural Gas, as I trade in NQ's as I trade in currencies as I trade in Fixed...
