Are you covered by SIPC or only by the UK equivalent if you have an account with Interactive Brokers UK? Thank you. (Yes, I could ask IB, but first I just want to check in case the answer is self-evident.)

IEX versus Interactive Brokers SMART routing

Reading the article below you get the impression, that you would always be better off sending your order to IEX. However, when using Interactive Brokers' SMART routing, my orders rarely get executed at IEX. Anyone has an idea why Interactive Brokers SMART routing rarely send orders to IEX...

Any old timers who shorted Nasdaq in 2000?

I shorted corresponding to 40% of my capital at the time. If Bitcoin crosses into the 20 thousands and IB have opened up for short positions, I will place a short with maximum 5% of my capital (which incidentally is much more than the 40% short Nasdaq in 2000). Never go all in on a short...

Which is why you should only commit a small fraction of total capital - 1-2% when the time is right. Still enough to make what corresponds to half a year's lower middle income salary.

    IB: Bitcoin Futures Trading Permissions?

With "pop" I meant "pop the bubble." Even if crypto technology will end up transforming finance, Bitcoin will drop at least -50% - sooner rather than later.

Which brokers accept opening and closing auction orders on NYSE and Nasdaq?

I will find out. I have a one-year old girl, so I work slowly at the moment ;-( When you say: "BTW, a market order placed to a broker pre-open (before the cut-off time) becomes a MOO order...," I assume you mean the order will participate in the auction and get filled at the official opening...

    CFD trading with Interactive Brokers?

Can I ask what specifically you mean by "auction orders for example are a complete lottery." Did market-on-close orders not get filled? If that is the case, that is quite serious.

Which brokers accept opening and closing auction orders on NYSE and Nasdaq?

I just contacted Fidelity on their chat. They do offer market-on-open and market-on-close orders.
