    Buy or Sell Options?

As you've probably heard, more than 90% of the options expire worthless. Why would you want to be part of the crowd who "safely" looses month after month ? Since you're a beginner I'd recommend you take some courses or follow somebody else's trades for a while to understand the process. Yes...

Question About "Average Joe" Risk Tolerance ...

To summarize the average joe is somebody who: 1. doesn't properly understand how futures markets work 2. has no idea what risk means, and how much risk they take on a daily basis for that matter (see the pink slip reply) 3. has a firm belief that one "can't go wrong with real estate"...

Question About "Average Joe" Risk Tolerance ...

Massive fortunes have been made and lost with real estate also ... plus the real estate market has its own leverage and volatility. The only difference is that there is no chart where you can watch it going up or down on a second/minute basis.:p

Question About "Average Joe" Risk Tolerance ...

Let's say that "John" and "Bill" do the following to earn a living: "John" trades the futures contracts. His account is leveraged and he takes risks as he tries to benefit from price changes. For simplicity sake let's say that the time frame of its trades is medium to long term. "Bill"...

The REAL Problem... (well, one of them)

I won't go that far ... let's don't forget that the "greedy lenders" had to find some greedy investors who wanted more than the Tbill rate as a return for their investment. Most of the time investors take the "no questions asked" approach when high yields are at stake (see Amaranth ...

    Discount Window Rate Cut: Symbolic?

The cut of half of percent of the discount window doesn't mean too much ... Banks are reluctant to use it because of the stigma that comes with it. It's a signal for everybody else that they're in distress. For instance last week only $10 mil were borrowed from the FED. Since nobody...

    Starting your own Forex MM

You don't need any qualifications if your forex market maker business is not registered in US. There are costs involved with this as you may need to purchase a forex trading platform. The price of it varies, but it starts from about $10k downpayment plus the company that sells it to you may...

Crown Forex .... can take money out?!

Good news .. Crown finally made the transfer after one week from the request. I called their office and I was told that normally a transfer takes from 3 to 5 business days. It seems that ever request takes quite a while to be processed even though their own guidelines are followed.

    Kansas Wheat versus Chicago Wheat

unfortunately the newsletter doesn't specify which contract month to buy/sell. I looked up the prices for the KW (Kansas Wheat) and W (Chicago Wheat) for the next 2 years. For Sept '07, Dec '07 W trades at a premium compared to KW. For March '08 KW trades at a small premium to W (2...

    Kansas Wheat versus Chicago Wheat

Nazzdack ... You seem to disagree with Youngtrader ... What are you trying to say ... KC Wheat is discounted because is not as clean as Chicago Wheat? If my assumption is correct you don't believe that Buy KC Wheat and sell Chicago Wheat is a good idea, right? Thanks

    Kansas Wheat versus Chicago Wheat

From your experience what long time means? few weeks, months, etc. Let me see if I got it right: KC wheat is usually more expensive because of its higher protein content. However this year the yields have been reduced due to the weather and disease. So the fundamentals are bullish for KC...

    Kansas Wheat versus Chicago Wheat

This is an excerpt from a newsletter I received: "Chicago wheat is trading at a 10+ cent premium to KC Wheat, which is a higher protein wheat. Typically KC Wheat trades at a premium to Chicago. Current levels of this spread offer the opportunity to Buy KW and Sell Chicago wheat. " I'd...

    Options on the Grains

Any broker who lets you trade CBOT contracts ... FCMs like Alaron, PFG, Man Financial, RJO or their IBs (introducing brokers). From my experience IBs charge lower commisions .... FCMs don't want to be bothered with the "little guy" :D

    hurricane forecasting

I only trust NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmotspheric Administration). Their last release predicted 7 to 10 hurricanes with the possibility of 3 to 5 becoming major hurricanes. It's been quiet so far but the season isn't over either :(

I just signed up on it out of curiosity .... my first impression of the site was that is way of keeping in touch and not necessarily making new contacts. For instance people who graduated overseas or worked for small companies don't have too much luck there

    Day Trading Commodities

I'd stay away from day trading grains during the US summer time. Just a weather forecast can swing the market limit up or down.
