The jump from 1 to 5 contracts is extreme. Try moving up to 2 contracts and see if you can still average $300 per contract. Then move to 3, then try 5. Take one step at a time!

When you placed your trade did you also place an order for a stop loss? Sounds to me like you did and forgot to cancel your stop, which ended up getting filled. I would check your account because you probably still have an open position.

Another problem is the risk involved with trading bigger size. Could you imagine getting caught in a trading halt holding 25K shares? Ouch!

In 98 I purchased his Traders Tax Law & Examples guide to help me with my taxes. I paid $40 for both guides at the time. Now it looks like he charges $90. Bottom line is the guides saved my hide that year. I would highly recommend the examples guide if you an active trader.
