I told my parents I was a swinger...

I think swing and position trading is more suited for my skills over day trading. That being said, and before I begin, I want to ask all you out there that know more than me about the subject. So I stumbled across optionize, and it seems that swing and position trading options contracts...

    Selling Put Options?

Ok, got it. It appears that for selling puts to be long term +ev, you need to know how to properly value a company? Simply sitting back and thinking you can collect the premiums is not wise if you do not understand valuations. Think I was putting the cart before the horse before. thanks all

    Selling Put Options?

Hi there, you make a good point...is this also in the same ball park as "well hell, what if the stock goes way BELOW 85 and below the amount where your risk premium covers it...then you might be buying a 60-70 dollar stock for 85 dollars." i don't know why i used quotation marks....don't think...

    Selling Put Options?

First, thanks all for the responses. They were all helpful. To answer your specific question, I feel that if I engaged in this strategy, I would only be doing it to collect the premiums. However I wouldnt go crazy and start selling puts for the sake of premiums. I feel that this strategy...

    Selling Put Options?

These questions might sound trivial, and perhaps they are, but I am new to the forum. Basically, if I choose to sell put options, I will be paid money if the stock price on the expiration date is higher than the strike price? (all while not buying the stock) Conversely, I will be required...

    Viacom vs DTV

As long as you ask, DTV will comply. For internet and cable (including all movie channels) you should not pay a dime over 120. I usually tell them that I got an offer from a competitor (comcast or dish).

Personality types dictate your trading preference?

I just joined the forum a week ago and have received lots of tips and feedback on a few of my posts. Some people I have chatted with trade gaps.... some scalp (arbitrage bid asks), some trade stocks...some do futures...some forex...Really interesting stuff, but where to begin!? but I'm...

Interested in how many Professional Traders got started.

I will assume by this you mean like traders at IB and stuff? Do you find this due to them being totally risk on since there is 0 disincentive to not bet the farm? (privatizing profits while socializing losses)

Interested in how many Professional Traders got started.

The title is pretty self explanatory. I am new here and I feel that this forum would be the best place to learn how many of you traders got started. I'm not interested in trite things like "how much money do you make?" I am simply interested in your story, the process, the lifestyle, etc...

Former Online Poker Pro, Considering Transitioning into Trading...Maybe?

Hi, thanks for the response. You make a lot of sense. Can you elaborate on what you mean by style? I mean, do you mean what market to trade? Options, stocks, forex, etc? Or do you mean like the type of trading? ie: arb, pairs, swing, etc. To answer your question: I never intended to be...
