To trade the Hang Seng at IB I need to open a margin account, is that correct? Also are there trading permissions that need to be accepted for the asian exchange?

So the exchange shuts down and then gaps according to the Nikkei when it opens up again? Or the aussie markets? Also, do retail traders trade the Nikkei? Thanks

I get some magical fills with amp as well although my last broker was PFG so I might be easy to please. Only problem I see is the commission can be a bit high when compared to IB unbundled rates...

Noob question on the Hang Seng. Why the hell does the MSI stop trading around 20:30 GMT and start up 2 hours later? What the fuck is that about? Also, why is the volume so thin on the MSI, am I watching low liquidity contract? MSI Z8 is the active month right? Or am I an idiot?

I dont understand how you are ready if you don't have an instrument selected. Do you expect to make a decision on what to trade and then because you did one year of paper/live trading (on whatever random instrument) you will be able to pick up anything and start making 100 a day? I am confused

I don't know if there are any stats on this but it was my impression that a majority of americans contacted their reps in opposition to the bailout. At least I did, twice. Maybe somebody can back this perspective up with numbers. If this is the case, the system is beyond fixing and needs...

If you are not having fun then why bother? Go do something else or at least take a break and get a new perspective. Relax, the most important thing you have control of when trading is your state of mind. If your mind is not in the right place then your results will reflect that.

Before the volatility hit the market I would agree with this statement. But with the recent market conditions, 7-10 ticks on the YM is very small IMO. There might be people who can trade that successfully but I am not one of them.
