moving on... anybody heard anything 'concrete' abt refco's solvency situation to date? i may have missed a few trains here but, assumptions aside, cld s.o. help recap what we really know at this juncture, i.e. is it established that there is in fact a big black hole sitting on one of refco's...

look at it the other way pal, how does doing nothing increase your chances of getting a more favourable settlement?? probably not much, right? as for the company being bankrupt, thats only one part of the equation, despins (milbank) is going after bennett & other former executives pay-offs...

don't disagree with yr point, its pretty hard to compare because of all the mkting b/s... now as an example of a practical feature - its only one aspect of risk control of course - i quite like(d) the auto-liquidation mechanism in place at acm for instance... pretty efficient!
