Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

Shorting is more risky so more risk control is warranted. Better yet only short during day trading. Overnight risk is too high in the current volatile market. I shorted QQQ today only for day trading. No brainer.

Today is a big shorting day.

Never leave money on the table.

Market goes down at a speed of 3x that of going up. Downtrend usually is more dramatic but it also warrants more sharp bounces.

Favorite stocks or etfs for a Bounce?

Most time you can’t short UVXY. My broker usually doesn’t have UVXY shares to lend out.

Never leave money on the table.

I agree shorting is more difficult than long due to various reasons discussed here. My current rule is only short on a big obvious downtrend but I am still tempted to short more than I should. Lol guess I have an inner tendency for shorting. Today l first long TSLA after 2:30pm EST. After...

Never leave money on the table.

I found that looking at QQQ and SQQQ at the same time helps a lot. If both are obvious there’s a very high probability of being the right trend. For example, QQQ shows an obvious uptrend and SQQQ shows an obvious down trend.

Never leave money on the table.

That’s my problem too. I can often see the big trend but staying in is very hard due to noise and natural market zigzag movements. I use scalping on the trend method, i.e., buy dip sell high on an uptrend.

Never leave money on the table.

I only short during day trading, never overnight.

Likewise, a long can gap down too. Admittedly, shorting inherently bears more risk so you have to be very careful.

Never leave money on the table.

You can always long the inverse ETFs (e.g., SQQQ) and UVXY on a down trend day if you prefer to long only. There’s really no difference between long and short. It’s the mindset.

Are you pretty darn good predicting where price ends up before close for Index, ETFs, Futs, stocks?

Will try next time. Of course it’s never 100%.

Favorite stocks or etfs for a Bounce?

    SVXY (opposite of UVXY). :p

Are you pretty darn good predicting where price ends up before close for Index, ETFs, Futs, stocks?

No. But usually in the last half hour I can tell where the market is going.

Surprising new book suggests profitable rules-based strategies are plentiful

The problem and reality of any written trading strategy is if it really works everyone would know and adopt it in no time. The downfall comes quickly to render it useless again. There is actually a good logic in this phenomenon. Just think about it and you’ll understand. That’s how the market...

Market looking nice and juicy to the upside tomorrow, I think the bears...

Be flexible in bull or bear market, especially for short term trading.

Market looking nice and juicy to the upside tomorrow, I think the bears...

As a day trader no need to worry about market going up or down. The only bad thing is market going sideways.

Tight stops and re-entries, or wider initial stops?

    Day trading on 5-min chart.

Tight stops and re-entries, or wider initial stops?

I used to look at candles but not any more. Now I only look at 5-min line chart trying to pick the big trend.
