It's weird that they will give you 100 additional symbols in a way that they can't possibly get any commission from, but you can't get them in a form where they would get more commission, even if you're willing to pay for it.

I already have a simulator account, the data seems to run a few seconds behind real time, plus you obviously can't place real trades through it. I guess I need to think about splitting my real account up into two. Seems silly.

Has anybody divided their capital up into two accounts in order to get 200 tickers? Would that work?

Yeah, but that's my point, they give the guy who does $30 a month substantially the same amount as the guy doing $750-$1000

I don't see anything on that page about paying for additional real-time lines. IB customer service just told me they won't let you pay for additional lines, either. It seems silly that you get 100 lines for $30 worth of commissions, but in order to get 110, you have to do $880 worth.

Most of the time I get the first confirmation in in less than a half a second in my live IB account. My IB simulator account takes maybe 10 seconds most of the time.

Something I've been wondering about: wouldn't you be better off shorting the long fund than buying the short fund, because then you'd have slippage, commissions etc working for you instead of against?

I'm more concerned about being early than being late. Something like EWZ is still up more than 300% from 2002. I think we have a lot farther to go.
