Perhaps I read it wrong, but I thought this thread was about a guy who grabbed the free download of version 7 and was unable to use it to save the True Image file to his USB connected HDD and that in order to make it all work, he would need to convert his drive to a dynamic one. If I'm wrong...

Also, you do NOT need to change your HDD to a dynamic drive to run version 8 of Acronis. I just checked mine to make sure and all my HDDs that I use Acronis on are ALL basic drives. Seriously, I know free rocks :D but consider buying the current version.

I have version 8.0 so I don't know if v. 7 will do this, but I make my images files right to the same partition that I'm backing up. Then I simply copy the newly created file to my external USB connected HDD. Works perfectly. But again, this is v 8

I agree except ER2 doesn't trade is whole points - $10 ticks for each $.10 rather than the YM's $5 for each point, but you know that :) I'll be adjusting my contract size down to accommodate the increased risk of each ER2 contract.
