    AMZN Brutally Assaulted by CA

Investigative reporting is expensive. Buying videostream (with comments and inherent bias) from a news provider like Reuters is cheap in comparison. That's why every single channel shows totally inconsequential news pieces like a baby elephant born in an Australian zoo. Another difficulty...

    AMZN Brutally Assaulted by CA

If we are talking about "free money" for corporations, it's just an accounting trick. Large corporations often have thousands of companies in their corporate structure, some of which are non-profit organisations. Acounting allows leaving most of the profit in offshore subsidiaries. Another trick...

    AMZN Brutally Assaulted by CA

News on TV is primarily for entertainment. Even on Bloomberg TV and CNBC most features are there to provide background noise for when the market is quiet.

The problem is non-linear for most non-trivial trading strategies.

Nazcrack a plenty. It's a stock market party baby.

One thing I don't get is why the presenter tries to clean his teeth with his finger after every sniff.

I understand he was banned from elitetrader shortly after starting this thread. No foggiets idea why.

Which way do you favor - reading trading books or ipad/kindle?

Amazon already has technology to remotely delete books from Kindle. In fact, it has already been used: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/18/technology/companies/18amazon.html

World Longest Bridge = Silliest Too!

perhaps, you are talking of Hangzhou Bay Bridge. Wikipedia says "the bridge shortened the highway travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai from 400 km (249 mi) to 280 km (174 mi) and reduced travel time from 4 to 2.5 hours." So, it is 36 km long and saves 120 km travel distance.

Russia to Reduce US Debt Holdings- That's what happens when you print, no one wants y

I think the list is a good joke. It's probably as much about popular stereotypes as about actual life in Russia. For comparison, here is a similar list about the US (from the prospective of a Japanese woman). You’ve been in the U.S. too long when… …you wear a T-shirt even in...

Andrea Rossi: Game Changer or Mad Scientist

Whicheever makes more money. Based on portfolio theory, probably both assuming the expected return is positive. It's not like they have much of a choice: whatever makes money.

Fortunes are Made During Market Crashes

If the retiree planned parenthood as well as they planned retirement by the time they are 65, their children will have finished colledge and be in a professional job. To make sure children can take care of themselves, one wise thing is to give them money for an initial deposit in the home of...

Andrea Rossi: Game Changer or Mad Scientist

Can it be both? Form what I understand a large proprotion (probably over 80%) of scientists who are credited with gamechanging inventions for the contemporary general public fit the definition of a "mad scientist".

Russia to Reduce US Debt Holdings- That's what happens when you print, no one wants y

Why do so many people learn English? Probably because there are so many places in the world where you can communicate in English. I guess the sheer scale of both Chinese economy and, equally importantly, Chinese population abroad warrants the Chinese language a high place on the list of...

Fortunes are Made During Market Crashes

My view is most fortunes are made after market crashes. "Those who sold while everyone was still buying became millionairs and those who bought while everyone was still selling became billionairs"
