    The Opening Orders Thread

I think you need to take a closer look at your order log because not a single one makes sense. Are you sending these with a TIF of OPG and routed to NYSE?

    Nice call.

Nope. Still use them every day. If you can't find them on your order line you need to enable them on your feature selector.

When I used IB for OO's I used Esignal charting, L2, and T&S.

There's no way for me to know for sure, since I don't know him. All I can say is what I had that day and point out that you can't assume he was going to be massively short. I hope you saw my total from Friday. I didn't exactly have a small day either......

    The Opening Orders Thread

I went back and looked. My ratio of longs:shorts was right about 1:1 Friday. You really can't assume that you will be short on a big up gap like that. That gap up is already built into the prices you are sending for your orders. Are you sure you understand how this method works? The ES...

You do understand that just because the futures were up huge before the open does not necessarly mean you will be short, correct? He was in this case but there's no certainty about that. I understand your point about misleading the public, but I think you're calling out the wrong guy in this...

2Mil shares and he grosses 500K. That's 25cents per share. Make it a round trip shares and he's down to 12.5 cents per share. I'd take that any day anytime. And he scored that edge on 2M shares! That's serious performance. Look at Lescor's annual stats that he posts here. Those are great...

p/l thread 2007 skeptics and detractors

Correct, I have never traded in an office. I trade at the same firm as you, but remote. My only exposure to other people's numbers are what I see here and from other traders I have befriended. Given the growing percentage of remote traders and retail traders I suspect I'm the norm rather than...

p/l thread 2007 skeptics and detractors

Here's something that occurred to me. Even though I put up bigger numbers than them Friday and am in the same $ league (give or take) as them in general, Szeven, MBAGearhead, and Dustin totally inspire me. I think it's because I got to watch them grow and they are so darned consistent. They...

Mbps VS. Ping, which one is more important? advice needed!!!

Correct. Failover only. But correct me if i'm wrong, you can't load balance secure datastreams like quotes or broker connections anyway. Right? The main purpose of multiple internet connections for me is redundancy.

Mbps VS. Ping, which one is more important? advice needed!!!

I have multiple PC's. I run a T1 and a cable connection. Speed/reliablity critical stuff runs on the t1, not so critical stuff on the cable.

Mbps VS. Ping, which one is more important? advice needed!!!

I run 2 separate routers and 2 NICs in each PC. XP does an amazingly good job of switching over, just a few seconds. And it's easy to force (disable an NIC) if for some reason XP doesn't switch over.

    The Opening Orders Thread

On days like Friday, you can accomplish a heck of a lot just by parking limit orders out there. The swings were so big, there's a good chance you were going to get filled. Good hot keys or a little "semi-automation" as i like to call it goes a long way. You're certainly not tapereading! Then...

What happens to a MOC if stop hit in last 10 minutes?

Correct on your second paragraph. And that scenario does happen from time to time.

p/l thread 2007 skeptics and detractors

As a guy who posted a fairweather blotter today I'll respond. I fully admit I haven't posted regularly in the P/L thread in quite some time. I have good days, bad days and amazing days. Today was an amazing day under amazing conditions. It was an open we opening traders dream of and comes...

What happens to a MOC if stop hit in last 10 minutes?

That's a good question. Apparently the burden is on the firm, not the specialist. You'd think it would be easy for the specialist to manage, no?

What happens to a MOC if stop hit in last 10 minutes?

Surdo is correct. There's a whole strategy built around this concept. Your firm might not allow it however. You have to have the controls in place to make sure traders follow the rules, which can be tricky.

I haven't posted here in a long time, and I hate fairweather posters, but this is worth sharing. About 129K after commish. The OPG day we've been waiting years to get.
