is there ever a good time to average down?

A trader can start off with biggest position first, then as it moves against him on a PB add 1/2 of his original position size. If it moves against him again add 1/2 of his second position size on that third add. Or if said trader is feeling zesty and full of optimism and is convinced with 60%...

is there ever a good time to average down?

I did it ..I did it...I did it...like yesterday! Success...success..success. Maybe you might consider trying and find out???? On the other hand maybe you should not try and find out. It might go badly.

is there ever a good time to average down?

In an uptrend many professional traders are buying more on pullbacks. As the uptrend pause sideways to down they are buying buying buying. In a downtrend they are adding more and more to pullbacks against their initial position. Thus they are “loading up” short or long as price moves against...

is there ever a good time to average down?

For myself it all depends on the context of PA: 1) A few bars back up to the present bar. 2) And “how” the immediate PA is (behavior) is being made at the point where I am considering adding to a losing position. 3) Are the bars large or small. (Spread) If context supports it I will...

Why do i keep buying at the wrong time?

Yes. Trading range. Bar at 1400 is a spike followed by a PB which then becomes a bull channel. So a spike and bull channel. That channel subsequently morphs into a sideways move or pause. Once that sideways move becomes 20 bars it is no longer a second PB but it is a TR. So, 80% of BOs top or...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Thank you for your kind words. You are correct. I have nothing to sell. Just sharing techniques. We each have to make our own way but we also each need to learn from others. I don’t always agree with others but I do try to learn from others.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Thank you. I have tried looking a small sub minute TFs but my brain cannot think fast enough to make good decisions. Most of my trades on 5m charts but if a slow market or I don't have time for 5 minute setups I will sometimes dial down to 1m.

BTW my understanding IS incomplete and will always be incomplete. So is yours and it too will always be incomplete. None of us can see or even “know” all the variables. None of us can actually pinpoint and say why an institution moved the market by their actions. Some reason are even...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Institutions are not friends with one another. They are fighting each other. Not helping each other. Manipulation theory is best left in the waste basket. We are not living in the days of Jesse Livermore.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

If we lose it is not the institutions fault. Losing happens simply because we are not yet good enough in reading the chart and reading the pressures represented therein, as the market does its daily probings. Most institutions are not even looking at 5 min charts. Many are not staring at...

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

Too much emphasis on market manipulation theory. It is a market. It is going to move to where more transactions take place. It will be in TRs when bull and bearish institutions are about even in applying probing pressures. Then one side wins and the market has BO and moves to another level...

Do you consider the BO of the bottom of the range on your 5 min chart to be a successful BO or a FBO? And why?

In your opinion what is a BO? How do you when you are looking at one? What is a trading range? How do you in your trading determine the market is in a TR? Yes, anything Can happen. We trade in a gray fog. In uncertainty.

Techniques for Day Trading the ES, NQ, YM, MES, MNQ, and MYM

You have to know what constitutes a SUCCESSFUL BO. Novices are often times thinking a BO of a TR is successful so they will take a position in the direction of the BO not understanding that 80% of BO attempts in a TR will fail, thus they get whipsawed when price goes back towards the edge of...
