Why are people on ET so against a decent minimum wage

I am troubled by the attitude of lots of people on here as to the setting of a decent level of minimum wage. In the UK we currently have a minimum wage of around 10 dollars an hour with universal health care based on need not ability to pay. The Uk's unemployment rate is considerably lower...

    Northern Rock Is Finished

For what it is worth Nick Leeson was actually a plasterer/tradesman before becoming their head trader so I don't know where this aristocracy thing comes from. I don't think the head of Northern Rock was royalty either.

Are the pros really much better then retail traders?

I would say it depends on your definition of a pro. If it is just someone salaried at a firm then the pros are no better than the amatuers at trading as a rule. The only difference is they get paid whether they win or lose so they ahve a much easier life.

    Why Daytrade????

The reason people day trade is simple, it offers the highest potential return out of all forms of trading for the smaller accoutn holder. The market moves a greater distance than its low to high for the day therefore the lower your trasnactional time frame the greater potential for profit...

My first post; some observations on trading.

Even if there is no certainty of a profitable outcome, it does not automatically follow that the primary driver of that outcome is chance. The greater the number of successful transactions viewed the lower chance is that it is “just down to luck”. If you take people like Jim Rogers or...

My first post; some observations on trading.

"It's no different really to betting on a basketball game, horse race etc. You can read the form guide, make judgements about the conditions but nobody can tell you what will happen next and therefore skill is not involved." That is only the case if you believe that all of the above have no...

    bears are being unpatriotic

The role of the markets is neither to enrich or impoverish merely to reflect the prices people are wiling to pay at any given time. It is not patriotic to go long neither is it unpatriotic to go short it is what it is, namely a group of indivuduals trying to understand what something is...
