    fxcm changing their spreads

Hmm... Candles appear more spastic for the first few hours. I'm not sure whether that's just normal for market open, but it sure doesn't look it.

    Climate Change

No, the fact co2 is breathable proves there isn't a problem. Climate warming is a paranoid fantasy. It's mass hysteria over nothing. I could create a climate model with those same computer models that would prove that the seismic force of my flatulence is strong enough to cause an earthquake...

    Climate Change

Even if co2 is going to blow up the Earth and we change our policy, we're not going to convince China, India, South America, Russia, etc to change theirs. So, it's just a bunch of paranoid carrying on over something we can do absolutely nothing about. But seriously, co2 is an inert non-toxic...

C'mon man, someone posted it on the innerwebs. It must be true. Stop being so skeptical.

Why do I need to connect to internet to use Amibroker?

Well, when amibroker boots up, it scans for a database. If no database is found then it prompts you for a database. I can only assume that it's triggering some function that accesses the networking device. I was thinking that maybe there was an argument I could use to open amibroker via...

Why do I need to connect to internet to use Amibroker?

I am 100% certain that it isn't malware. It is likely that it scans network drives/locations. So, it doesn't have to contact the internet itself. Also, it may have been a common enough issue that everyone has, but I just overlooked the faq item or something. Thanks though.

Why do I need to connect to internet to use Amibroker?

My laptops database keeps getting deleted because I don't ever connect to the internet with it. At least, that's my theory. I do not have any issue with my desktop, but I tried disconnecting from the internet on my desktop and low and behold, my database magically disappeared. Lucky I had a...

Anyone want to speculate how this will affect trading? Or maybe it won't have any effect at all?

What was the logic behind forbidding fraction of a penny bidding/offering?

That's what I was thinking, but I just wanted to know what the lame excuse they used was. Sort of the way they explained why they enacted the PDT rule to "protect" us from losing money in the stock market.

How do you stop long term thinking with daytrading?

    Consider position trading.

What was the logic behind forbidding fraction of a penny bidding/offering?

Is there any real logic to the fact that I as a retail trader cannot bid/offer at a fraction of a penny? It seems that the big institutions can. So, what was the logic behind this rule? I am under the impression that this rule is good for at least Nasdaq stocks. I am not certain about NYSE or...

Errors in 'Quantitative Trading Systems' by Howard Bandy

I'm getting quite a few errors in the code contained in this book. Does anyone know which version of AFL and Amibroker was used to make the code? It does not say in the book itself.

    Why do trading systems fail?

So, in learning the AFL code, I'm testing out some simple systems. This one system works very well on WDC, although there is drawdown in the aftermath of 2000 and 2008, which is understandeble. I really wouldn't expect anything else from a long only system. But with EA, the system just breaks...

Why does stock data cost money?

Well, plenty of people post websites and blogs containing a treasure trove of information, as well as host servers for gaming and other services and maintain it all for free. I don't see the difference. My main complaint, is that all the ones that I would find cheap enough, people lambaste...

Why does stock data cost money?

I've been reading and many people say that all the low cost options are unreliable. And Yahoo and Google do not provide enough intraday data to have anything remotely close to resembling an amount necessary for backtesting. And I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars on data. I really...
