Long Term Currency Position in HKD Alternatives?

Yes I saw that re Bill Ackman. I could not find a proxy or good way of doing it other than a forex trade. I had the forex trade on for a while but took it off a while ago when the chief executive of HK said there would not be a change. The forex position does have a margin cost. I will...

Brokers/ Platforms with Accurate Real Time Margin Display

I am trying out CTS T4 and while it has a very good variety of futures and options spreads, one thing I notice is that it does not have accurate margin displayed intra-day. Instead, for options positions they just use round numbers such as $10,000, $20,000, or $30,000 etc. for the futures...

    Trading Point

Trading Point was just sued by the CFTC for failing to register. Also, they are in Cyprus. Cyprus Brokers could be exposed since Cyprus Banks have 40% of their assets in Greece, which in my opinion is quite likely to default on its obligations and pass laws converting all foreign currency...

Great rate, great service, great attitude

Actually SpeedTrader shows 9 futures platforms. And their quoted commissions ($1) are twice those of Deep Discount Trading (50 cents). I realize that you said they are negotiable. Actually even $1 is good compared to a lot of brokers.

Great rate, great service, great attitude

How do you figure 3 choices? I was impressed that they had about 10 or more. See http://www.deepdiscounttrading.com/TradingPlatforms.html

Futures and futures options. No stocks or forex.

    I would suggest ActiveQuant.

Great rate, great service, great attitude

I agree that Deep Discount Trading is great compared to paying twice as much for commissions elsewhere for inferior capabilities. However, do you find it to be a negative that you have to pre-specify the futures markets you want to trade and what quantities (for risk management purposes)...

    Liberty trading group

I might add that I have been in touch with one or two clients of his firm who were quite happy. Personally, I prefer to do my own trading rather than have a managed account. He does offer an assisted mode also where you open an account and trade it with his assistance. It probably still...

    Liberty trading group

I have never dealt with the firm itself but I like his book and weekly update and newsletter (the latter two are free on his web site) As the other poster says, they only want accounts over $150,000.

Virtual trading room for Options Sellers ?

I am interested in any private group on selling futures options. I have been selling futures options along the lines of Cordier of optionsellers.com / liberty trading for a couple of years and it has so profitable that I am still puzzled because by all accounts it should not be that...

    How is Hugh Hendry doing?

See http://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/2011/08/24/hugh-hendrys-eclectica-fund-is-up-4-6-in-july-and-8-3-ytd/ from a little while ago.

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

I have indeed seen cases where the settlement prices of out of the money options on certain stocks or futures were much lower than the prices at which they actually traded every day. Maybe anomalies is too strong a word in my part. I guess what one really needs is tradeable or exploitable...

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

Sarcasm aside, if anyone knows of some software packages that provide some good insights into modeling options prices on metal and energy futures options, and rationalizing them against settlement prices, please post. Mainly OptionVue? ThinkOrSwim? My post was definitely *not* intended to...

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

Do any of the options software packages have that in them?

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

On marks alone yes ......I do not think you can go by them 100% though, especially for out of the money options in illiquid markets

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

Actually on second thought I deleted that (although I pressed the wrong button to do so on the first try) and you're welcome to delete the quote of it too if you want. I do like your term: "demand for the wings". I agree that is a very real phenomenon. It seems that it is irrational to...

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

Actually I was adding to my position which is small and at a profit overall. I am surprised that you are not aware that everything is a function of the rest of one's portfolio and the relative scale of the position. Who cares? I am making a prediction. If you have no views on the market...

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

So we see. But I do not agree with you on the price being too cheap. We will see it come right back in as copper rises back up a little (which is all it is going to do).

Very Dubious Pricing of Copper Options

Not to worry though, copper is rallying now so call premiums will be falling back down again .:)
