This is a manipulated bull market, how long can it last?

No, as I said earlier, oil puts a limit on what the Fed can do and how far up stocks can go. Oil's rally has been relatively mild so far, but at some point (say another $10, $15 or $20 increase) the oil/gas "tax" on the economy will be too much. Then you'll see the rally slow down and reverse...

This is a manipulated bull market, how long can it last?

Which "numbers" forecast those other corrections? With a sample size that small, it's likely they're curve-fit, anyway. There are definitely some similarities to 2007 right now (the final rally before things fell apart), but I'm not making any predictions. That's always a dangerous thing...

This is a manipulated bull market, how long can it last?

That's what I mean. In the 1990s, you could have multiple years of 20-30% returns and oil would barely budge from the $20-$30/b range. Not any more. They are correlated too tightly now. Oil gets to economically-restrictive levels whenever stocks have a long rally.

This is a manipulated bull market, how long can it last?

Since around 2004, oil has kept stock bubbles in check. If stocks get too much higher, look for oil to challenge its March high...then look for both oil and stocks to correct. That relationship has been very reliable. No one feels too bullish when gas is around $4-$5/gallon (depending where...

    Greatest Forex SIM trader Ever?

That works until it doesn't. After the EURUSD topped out just above 1.600 in early 2008, I know a few people who bought it around 1.5500 as it started to fall. They were waiting for the inevitable bounce back into profitability. They either took a big loss or they're still waiting while...

Draghi just put a floor under the market, hmm

It did most of the tanking in Sept/Oct '08, when it was clear that an inexperienced narcissist, who was 10X more of an idiot than Bush, was about to receive the nuclear football and purse strings. We've deserved everything that's happened since...including the 8%+ unemployment he promised...

Why doesn't Germany just invade Greece?

Largely disarmed, modern milquetoast W. European nations don't invade each other. There won't be another major war over there until they're invaded or the rising Islamaniac classes start one. And that won't be pretty. How in the world did this garbage make it to an "Economics" forum, anyway?

    Doaks Challenges Hershey

He should move to Cali where he can get a medical marijuana exemption like tons of other healthy young people. For the record, I don't think mary jane should be criminalized either, though that position lumps me in with the potheads and hippies--with whom I disagree on most things.

    Hussman Goat Rodeo (HSGFX)

So the takeaway here is that 1) Hussman has beaten the S&P since inception. We'll see how the next decade or so goes. He's done better than, what, 95%+ of mutual fund managers? 2) Thread starter is a jealous moron with an agenda who has probably lost 40%+ over the last decade, buying...

Why is this market incapable of crashing??

So the "pros" are buying in this final hour once again? Just like they did on July 3rd before hitting the fireworks stand? Seriously?
  16. J

Why is this market incapable of crashing??

That "works" until it doesn't. Heavy cuts and other Fed activity did nothing in 2008 and the major indices still haven't eclipsed their 2007 highs. Where are all the bulls today, anyway?
  17. J

Why is this market incapable of crashing??

Whatever you do, don't try to tie this rally to fundamentals. Price-to-forward earnings multiples have been worthless after the bubble and record-level profit margins. The strangest thing (which we've seen before) are all the days where there's a huge ramp-up in the final minutes of trading...

Why is this market incapable of crashing??

Commodities have been falling like rocks since the beginning of March. This just looks like a normal retracement on a 6-month+ chart. And oil has a couple of gaps below that are just asking to be filled.
