I traded the S&P e-mini for the first time today, and was profitable. As mentioned, it was an easier day than many lately, so I won't let it go to my head.

I prefer a more mechanical approach, because when I trade without that guidance, the emotional aspect overwhelms my decisions and I consistently have poor performance.

In my experience with IB, it is direct access. You can specifically choose which ECN or other route to send the order to.
