Don's openings and more for 2005

Didn't trade today as I was in lovely Jackpot Nevada last night and this AM. Looks like I missed a nasty beating in KFT and PRU so glad to be gone. Got 3rd out of 70 in the poker tournament so it must have been my night. :p Got caught in a bluff on the big stack or I'd have gotten 2nd.

Just noticed this on the new version: if I have an alert going off, selecting an order line kills the alert. It used to be that you had to select the market data line to kill the alert. I prefered the old functionality.

I had high hopes for today, but no luck. Lots of fills but it all cancelled out. Flat for the day.

I've been told it's in the works for the next release.

Heres a question about Prop Firms

You might want to think about whether you want to park $250K in an uninsured account that doesn't pay interest. I don't see what benefit you are hoping to gain from going prop based on your requirements. You have no volume and you are barely using half your overnight retail equity.

Hmmm.... decent day for me. 10 fills, +700 net. I don't have FDX on my list though. Sorry to hear you did Chiguy. It's been choppy for the last few days.

It's broadcast on NYSE's MDX system. You need to be a subscriber. But as a retail trader you can't subscribe, at least i haven't figured out how to get it. Most people referring to it here are prop traders. Doesn't matter now.....

Does the market scanner even work? I pulled it up today for the first time in a while and all the fields say "loading".

It wasn't just you guys. 10 fills had me looking at my spreadsheet for errors. Couldn't find any, so I played it out normally. +1957 net

I had 1225.75 for the SPOOS and the same FV as you. You are correct that PRU was a very tight envelope. My data says I typically can run PRU pretty tight with decent average results, but there tends to be a lot of variance. So as of yesterday I kept the tight envelope but drastically...

Don's openings and more for 2005

I remember way back when, I was reading the old threads on this. You and Def (from IB) were chatting about this topic and Def had said they fixed that aspect of their margin calculations. Also, I believe that if I were to get fills that exceeded my margin, IB would immediately start liquidating...

Don's openings and more for 2005

Not all retail traders are struggling to stay above the $25K PDT minimum. Plus IB only counts margin on filled orders. Since you can't fill both sides of your OPG orders, even your calculations are 2X what they really could be worst case. In your case you'd need 200K in retail equity if...

8 fills, -676. PRU was awful. I had already sold half for a profit and then the bottom dropped out of it. I've had excellent results buying these drops on PRU before. I nibbled and nibbled some more, just missed getting out and ended up taking a loss. The good news in all this is my new...

Thanks! It sure is nice to find a high probability setup, bet big and win on the very first day. It's hard to believe I waited this long to make this upgrade. Shows my weakness as a programmer..... :p I use an Excel spreadsheet to store my data and calculate all my entry prices. I then use...

Don's openings and more for 2005

After a very choppy August I revamped my approach. I have over a year's worth of statistics on my stocks, I know when I have a statistical advantage. Yet I've always traded the same size. This is equivalent of betting the same in Hold 'Em whether you have AA or 54. Makes for very choppy results...

So you are saying you never lift offers or hit bids? If I'm offering liquidity I'll route to NYSE to try for price improvement. But if I'm taking liquidity why not use any liquidity available? Frankly, I'm a bit surprised a professional firm such as yours doesn't offer as many routing options...
