    Automating with Sterling Trader Pro

You need to write a standalone program from scratch that connects to the Sterling API. Most people I know use VB or C# since the Sterling API is ActiveX based. So basically you are going to need to teach yourself a programming language. There are no shortcuts that I am aware of.

U.S. Traders: What will u do if Transaction Tax passes? Which country to move to?

I don't see why not. Hope you like staying up all night.

U.S. Traders: What will u do if Transaction Tax passes? Which country to move to?

that's because those stocks trade in the US.

U.S. Traders: What will u do if Transaction Tax passes? Which country to move to?

This is just a proposal by a bunch of junior House members trying to get votes at home. There are idiot proposals in the House all the time. The representative from my district tried to introduce a bill repealing the law of gravity. Did that make you feel threatened as well? I don't recall an...

    Opening Orders - 2008

The problem wasn't at Echo, it was at Merrill. Apparently they marked every stock has hard to borrow right before the open. It's not the money I miss. It's the achievement. I feel like I missed going to the Olympics where I was the favorite to win 5 gold medals because the plane broke down...

    Dividends on short positions

Your account will be debited for the amount of the dividend the day it goes ex-dividend.

A message to those that are failing....

So I pretty much do the opposite of everything you describe: 1. virtually everything I do I haven't seen done anywhere else besides with the people I collaborated on some ideas with. 2. I never invest, I never look at fundamentals. I rarely carry positions overnight. 3. I fight the...

Naked short sell FNM and FRE: help ???

I think you will find it very difficult to short the SSF's in those names. I suspect you're going to find their bids substantially lower than that of the underlying stock. Any liquidity provider is going to want to hedge with stock which they will not be able to if they need to short to do it...

    Worst TWS Yet?

Mine does this too! Annoying as hell.

FRE/FNM shareholders are not going to be bailed out.

That is indeed a bold call my friend, a whole nickel. Especially when the ES is almost up a percent already tonight.

FRE/FNM shareholders are not going to be bailed out.

Yeah, that sure was a nasty surprise the overnight shorts got Friday morning. Oops, wait a minute..... :p

    IB Rules To Strict?

You signed the paperwork allowing them to do this. You can always use another broker if you find their margin rules better suit you. Not being flippant but if more lax margin rules are important to your business you should do what's best for your business. I personally like the liquidation...

    IB API Programmers

Although I do all my own coding, I have hired programmers I know personally from my past life in the tech industry to write trading applications. It is amazing how quickly they were humbled. Sure they are better programmers than me in a general sense but there are so many quirks specific to...

Paying YOU $10,000-$50,000 Cash Bounty to hook me up with the right firm

RM, I know you're a big hitter, but basically you are asking for what every piker on this board is asking for - an edge. The only difference is you're offering to pay up to 50K for it as opposed to getting it for free. Asking to join a firm with some big hitters to get your competitive...

    Deciding between ECHOTrade and Assent

$500 shouldn't make or break your decision (if it does, you are UNDERCAPITALIZED). What firm seemed like the best fit for training, rates, atmosphere, etc?

    Bright trading and any thoughts

I find it interesting that there's a built in assumption that Bright is the most financially stable of the prop firms. Perhaps it's true, probably is, but have you guys that like to think that way done anything more than take Don at his word? Regardless, the Brights have done an excellent job...

Bush Now Is Telling The Public That He Has Nothing To Do with High Oil Prices

As the man in charge when our currency was debased he's first in the line for blame. So much of this is due to the weak dollar. When your currency is being destroyed you have no other option to be long tangible items like commodities and that's exactly what has happened.

    Bright trading and any thoughts

Echo has all but #4. And at Bright, while #4 is available, it is not free. You have to pay for the 3 day course and boot camp out of your own pocket. Echo pays out twice weekly, btw. And honestly, regarding #5, how do you as a trader personally know the back office accounting is any...

    Pissed

    1 ES = $12.50 spread + $2.40 commish = $14.90 500 SPY = $5 spread, $2.50 commish = $7.50 + SEC fees, call it $8 At 3 round turns per day I'm saving $42/day or $10,500/year. Where's the advantage with futures?

    Pissed

A few thousand guys and black boxes all staring the same quotes on their screen, plus a few dozen in the pit staring at each other, trying to grind out an edge with futures vs. 7000 stocks of which my computer only needs to flag a few to make money. i'll stick to stocks thank you. I'd like...
